Objective: Observing the effects of Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) peptides on the proliferation of glomerular mesangial cells (GMCs), and on the expression of focal adheshion kinase (FAK) and hyaluronic acid (HA) in GMCs.

Methods: GMCs of rats were induced with RGD peptide in vitro. The proliferation of GMCs was measured by MTT; the expression of FAK, by immunohistochemistry; and the quantity of HA, by radioimmunoassay.

Results: After being incubated with RGD peptides, some of the attached GMCs became round, detached, and floated. As compared with the control, the proliferation (A value) of the induced with RGD peptide GMCs was significantly lower. After the cultured GMCs had been induced with RGD (1 mmol/L) for 24 h, the expression of FAK decreased by 3.10%, and the secretion of HA decreased by 5.64%. After the cultured GMCs had been incubated with RGD (4 mmol/L) for 8 h and 24 h, the expression of FAK decreased by 6.50% and 15.95%, and the secretion of HA decreased by 6.37% and 18.43%, respectively.

Conclusion: RGD peptides can inhibit the attachment of the cultured GMCs, reduce the proliferation of GMCs and decrease the secretion of the extracellular matrix.

The emergence of epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) has improved the prognosis for lung cancer patients with EGFR-driven mutations. However, acquired resistance to EGFR-TKIs poses a significant challenge to the treatment. Overcoming the resistance has primarily focused on developing next-generation targeted therapies based on the molecular mechanisms of resistance or inhibiting the activation of bypass pathways to suppress or reverse the resistance.

Based on the focal adhesion kinase(FAK)/steroid receptor coactivator(Src)/extracellular regulated protein kinase(ERK) pathway, this study explored the effects of Xihuang Pills on angiogenesis, invasion, and metastasis in prostate cancer. Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(LC-MS/MS) was used to analyze and identify the active ingredients of Xihuang Pills. Bioinformatics techniques, including R language and Perl programs, were employed to analyze the interactions between prostate cancer-related targets and the potential targets of Xihuang Pills.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the primary malignancy affecting the liver and the leading cause of mortality among individuals with cirrhosis. This complex disease is associated with various risk factors, including environmental, pathological, and genetic influences, which dysregulate gene expression crucial for the cell cycle and cellular/molecular pathways. The disruption of the balance between tumor suppressors and proto-oncogenes amplifies the pathogenic cascade.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) remains a significant therapeutic challenge due to its unresponsiveness to hormone and HER2-targeted treatments. This study investigated the potential of acetylated globotetraose (Ac-Gb4) as a novel therapeutic approach targeting glycolipid-mediated signaling in breast cancer cells. We synthesized acetylated globotetraose (Gb4) to enhance its membrane permeability while preserving its biological recognition properties.

Substantial loss of cardiomyocytes during heart attacks and onset of other cardiovascular diseases is a major cause of mortality. Preservation of cardiomyocytes during cardiac injury would be the most effective strategy to manage these diseases in clinic. However, there is no effective treatment strategy that is able to prevent cardiomyocyte loss.
