A two-dimensional surface profile imaging technique that uses a low-coherence heterodyne interferometer is proposed. A double-grating frequency shifter was used in a tandem interferometer to provide the achromatic frequency shift for low-coherence light. A chopper, together with a processing circuit, was implemented to modulate the interference fringes. The surface profile was measured from the interference fringes taken by a CCD camera using a five-step method. The uncertainty in the displacement measurement is 0.34 microm for a displacement range of 43 microm. The surface profile of a glass sample with low effective reflectivity was acquired.

Wildfires emit large amounts of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) into the atmosphere. As PAHs emitted from anthropogenic sources are known to accumulate in urban surface grime present on building exteriors and windows, we hypothesized that PAH-containing wildfire smoke plumes could similarly increase PAH grime loadings. To explore this hypothesis, we coupled analysis of PAHs in grime samples collected from August to November 2021 in two historically smoke-affected Canadian cities, Calgary and Kamloops, with contemporaneous field- and model-based indicators of wildfire influence.

Consumption of plant-based food is steadily increasing and follows an augmented trend owing to their nutritive, functional, and energy potential. Different bioactive fractions, such as phenols, flavanols, and so on, contribute highly to the nutritive profile of food and are known to have a sensitivity toward higher temperatures. This limits the applicability of traditional thermal treatments for plant products, paving the way for the advancement of innovative and non-thermal techniques such as pulsed electric field, microwave, ultrasound, cold plasma, and high-pressure processing.

A Single-Chain-in-Mean-Field (SCMF) algorithm was introduced to study block copolymer electrolytes in nonequilibrium conditions. This method self-consistently combines a particle-based description of the polymer with a generalized diffusion equation for the ionic fluxes, thus exploiting the time scale separation between fast ion motion and the slow polymer relaxation and self-assembly. We apply this computational method to study ion fluxes in electrochemical cells containing poly(ethylene oxide)-polystyrene (PEO-PS) block copolymers with added lithium salt.

Aim: To analyse the clinical and demographic profiles of patients with vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) and propose a grading for VKC based on corneal status and symptom periodicity rather than disease activity.
Methods: Retrospective observational study from January 2015 to January 2020 in India. VKC grading was based on past/present clinical signs and frequency of symptoms rather than disease activity.

Glucose-regulated protein 94 (GRP94) overexpression plays a critical role in tumor cell survival across various cancers. Previously, we developed K101.1, a fully human antibody targeting cell surface GRP94, which effectively inhibits tumor angiogenesis in colorectal cancer (CRC).
