The vast majority of investigations on the relationship between BMI (body mass index) and mortality results in a U-shaped relationship. Using a randomly selected number of more than 32,000 patients of German acute hospitals the U-shaped relationship is confirmed for mortality from cardiovascular diseases. BMI and mortality are not related over wide ranges of BMI for mortality from all causes. Only at the very extremes (heavy overweight and underweight) the number of deaths per number of patients in a certain BMI-class are increased.

It highlights the critical importance of understanding neurovascular pathways, particularly the supratrochlear and supraorbital vessels, as well as the appropriate thread placement techniques necessary for optimal outcomes. The review demonstrates that I-shaped threads, when placed beneath the frontalis muscle, provide a safer and equally effective alternative to traditional U-shaped designs.

Purpose: The Locus Coeruleus (LC) plays a vital role by releasing norepinephrine, which contributes to the antiepileptic effects of Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS). LC activity also influences pupil dilation. Investigating VNS dose-dependent Pupillary Dilation Response (PDR) may provide novel neurophysiological insights into therapeutic response and allow for an objective and personalized optimization of stimulation parameters.

Based on a balanced panel dataset of 272 prefecture-level cities from 2000 to 2022, this paper systematically investigates the impact of the carbon emissions trading system on green total factor productivity and its underlying mechanisms from an integrated perspective of overall, dynamic, and spatial dimensions. The findings reveal that (1) the carbon emissions trading system significantly enhances regional total factor productivity, primarily by optimizing resource allocation efficiency and strengthening regional competitiveness. (2) From a dynamic perspective, the policy effect exhibited a U-shaped relationship: from 2013 to 2018, green total factor productivity was suppressed due to underdeveloped market mechanisms and the policy environment; after 2018, with market maturation and policy stabilization, the policy effects improved significantly.
