This is a report of a young infertile woman with a history of 8 years amenorrhea, who presented with history of vaginal bleeding of 2 months duration. Investigations revealed a small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the endometrium, which penetrated half of the thickness of uterine wall. We have described the clinical progress and management of this rare and highly malignant cancer. A review of the pathological types and behavior of clear cell neuroendocrine carcinoma is presented.

The pituitary gland is a key endocrine gland with various physiological functions including metabolism, growth, and reproduction. It comprises several distinct cell populations that release multiple polypeptide hormones. Although the major endocrine cell types are conserved across taxa, the regulatory mechanisms of gene expression and chromatin organization in specific cell types remain poorly understood.

Neuroendocrine cells react to physical, chemical, and synaptic signals originating from tissues and the nervous system, releasing hormones that regulate various body functions beyond the synapse. Neuroendocrine cells are often embedded in complex tissues making direct tests of their activation mechanisms and signaling effects difficult to study. In the nematode worm , four uterine-vulval (uv1) neuroendocrine cells sit above the vulval canal next to the egg-laying circuit, releasing tyramine and neuropeptides that feedback to inhibit egg laying.

Management of stress and anxiety is often listed as the primary motivation behind cannabis use. Human research has found that chronic cannabis use is associated with increased basal cortisol levels but blunted neuroendocrine responses to stress. Preclinical research has demonstrated mixed effects of Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC; the psychoactive constituent of cannabis), much of which is suggestive of dose-dependent effects; however, the predominance of this work has employed an injection method to deliver cannabis.

Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) of the lung are a slowly growing subtype of lung cancer that has a different treatment paradigm than aggressive and more common forms of lung neuroendocrine neoplasms (NEN) like small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Current guidelines for metastatic lung NET advocate a handful of treatment options, including somatostatin analogs (SSA), everolimus, temozolomide- or platin-based chemotherapy, and peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT). However, there is no clear treatment sequence, and the therapy of choice may depend on several factors such as tumor grade / growth rate, tumor burden / symptoms, disease progression status, and somatostatin receptor (SSTR) expression.
