Published: September 2005

Most healthcare organizations have a strategic plan of some kind. Many of these organizations also have difficulty translating their strategic plan into specific actions that result in successful performance. In the worst cases, this can jeopardize the viability of the organization. The trouble lies in a lack of clarity in what a strategic plan is and what it should do for the organization. This article will answer key questions such as: What is strategy and how does it fit with other commonly used constructs such as mission, vision, and goals? What criteria can be used to determine if something is truly strategic to the organization? What are the phases of the strategy lifecycle? How do approaches for dealing with uncertainty, such as scenario planning, fit with organizational strategic planning? How can a meaningful IT strategy be developed if the organization strategy is lacking? What principles should guide a good IT planning process?

Weighted Echo State Graph Neural Networks Based on Robust and Epitaxial Film Memristors.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

January 2025

College of Physics Science & Technology, School of Life Sciences, Institute of Life Science and Green Development, Key Laboratory of Brain-Like Neuromorphic Devices and Systems of Hebei Province, Hebei University, Baoding, 071002, China.

Hardware system customized toward the demands of graph neural network learning would promote efficiency and strong temporal processing for graph-structured data. However, most amorphous/polycrystalline oxides-based memristors commonly have unstable conductance regulation due to random growth of conductive filaments. And graph neural networks based on robust and epitaxial film memristors can especially improve energy efficiency due to their high endurance and ultra-low power consumption.

Background: The purpose of this study is to explore the association between class-level factors, such as lesson start time, class size, lesson location, PE content, and PE context, and student engagement in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) during PE lessons in both elementary and middle schools.

Methods: A total of 284 PE lessons from ten schools in Shanghai, Eastern China, were included in the study. Students' MVPA during PE lessons was recorded using accelerometry, and lesson context was evaluated using the System for Observing Fitness Instruction Time (SOFIT).

Where Are All the Clinical Trials for Chronic Rejection?

Transplantation

January 2025

Department of Medicine, Columbia Center for Translational Immunology, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, New York, NY.

Chronic rejection is arguably the main obstacle to long-term graft survival. Yet, clinical trials focusing on this condition are disappointingly scarce. Significant advances in treating chronic rejection cannot happen if there is no conduit for testing novel therapies.

To enhance the level of emergency supplies deployment during earthquake disaster, this study focuses on emergency logistics in China. An integrated two-stage optimization framework is adopted to incorporate demand and time satisfaction indicators into the supply allocation and route optimization models, respectively. Firstly, historical data and seismic monitoring information are used to estimate the number of people affected and to forecast the need for emergency supplies; Secondly, the concept of psychological risk perception and the degree of urgency of requirements are introduced.
