Percutaneous radiofrequency (RF) thermal ablation has received attention as an effective minimally invasive approach for the treatment of a variety of neoplasms. However, the therapeutic efficacy of RF thermal ablation on primary pleural synovial sarcoma has not yet been reported. A 76-year-old man with a primary pleural synovial sarcoma who was medically inoperable received RF thermal ablation to achieve local control. Therefore, an RF electrode was inserted into the lesion and connected to an RF generator. In this report, a case of successful treatment of a primary pleural synovial sarcoma using RF ablation without complication is presented.

High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a noninvasive soft tissue ablation technique, which utilizes ultrasound energy to induce thermal coagulation necrosis in targeted tissues. Whether this high energy causes side effects in vivo, such as the formation of peptide bonds, has not been fully investigated. Glycylglycine is the simplest dipeptide and hence is often used as a model compound for peptide studies.

This paper describes the design and initial proof-of-concept of a single pre-clinical transcranial focused ultrasound (FUS) system capable of performing histotripsy (mechanical ablation), hyperthermia, blood-brain barrier opening (BBBO), sonodynamic therapy, or neuromodulation in a murine brain. We have termed it the All-in-One FUS system for murine brain studies, which is the first FUS system of its kind. The 1.

A novel, compact, and automated laser ablation dielectric barrier discharge thin layer chromatography-mass spectrometry (LA-DBD-TLC-MS) device was developed for the rapid detection of biogenic amines (BAs) in fishery products. This plug-and-play system integrates thermal desorption via diode laser, DBD plasma ionization, and tandem MS detection, with key operational parameters optimized through experimental and computational methods. Utilizing nanoscale carbon black as a matrix, the device achieved a detection limit of 0.

Background & Aims: MRI guidance offers better lesion targeting for microwave ablation of liver lesions with higher soft-tissue contrast, as well as the possibility of real-time thermometry. This study aims to evaluate the correlation of real-time MR thermometry-predicted lesion volume with the ablation zone in postprocedural first-day images.
Methods: This single-center retrospective analysis evaluated prospectively included patients who underwent MRI-guided microwave ablation with real-time thermometry between December 2020 and July 2023.

Age-dependent sensory impairment, memory loss, and cognitive decline are generally attributed to neuron loss, synaptic dysfunction, and decreased neuronal activities over time. Concurrently, increased neuronal activity is reported in humans and other organisms during aging. However, it is unclear whether neuronal hyperactivity is the cause of cognitive impairment or a compensatory mechanism of circuit dysfunction.
