Cardiovascular disease (CVD) induced by atherosclerosis (AS) is the main fatal complication of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Establishing an appropriate animal model of SLE with AS is of great value for investigating the pathogenesis and therapeutic targets of SLE-CVD. In the present work, pristane was injected intraperitoneally into C57BL/6J mice to establish the SLE model and Bacillus Calmette-Guerin Vaccine (BCG) was injected intradermally one month later to enhance immunity and induce AS.

Proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR), the most common type of diabetic retinopathy, is a main cause of visual and impairment blindness. Abnormal neovascularization, endothelial dysfunction, and vascular inflammation are important mechanisms for the development of PDR. Ets2 regulates angiogenesis-related genes and inflammation, however, the effect of Ets2 in PDR procession has not been clarified.

Objective: This study seeks to explain the relationship between systemic conditions and hard exudate formations in diabetic macular edema patients. Besides, the study aimed to quantitatively examine changes in the area, location, and impact on visual function of hard exudates following intravitreal dexamethasone implant injections.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted, including 40 patients (40 eyes) diagnosed with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy and concurrent macular edema between January 1, 2022, and January 1, 2024.
