Previously, we estimated prepandemic SLD prevalence determined by transient elastography assessed hepatic steatosis and fibrosis in the United States. We now estimate prevalence of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and examine associations with lifestyle, socioeconomic, and other factors.

We describe a woman with stiff-person syndrome (SPS), whose muscle spasms resulted in sequential bilateral femoral neck fractures. Orthopaedic fixation of the first fracture was complicated by increased muscle spasm, fracture nonunion and ultimately metalwork fracture. SPS was diagnosed following the fracture of the contralateral femoral neck, neurology assessment and detection of high-titre antibodies to glutamic acid decarboxylase.

Background: As individuals age, the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) increases, largely due to progressive stiffening of the arteries. This relationship underscores the critical need to monitor arterial stiffness as a predictor of CVD outcomes. While aerobic exercise has demonstrated benefits for vascular health, the influence of flexibility, particularly trunk flexibility, on arterial stiffness remains underexplored.
