Three-dimensional bioprinting (3DP) is transforming the field of regenerative medicine by enabling the precise fabrication of complex tissues, including the retina, a highly specialized and anatomically complex tissue. This review provides an overview of 3DP's principles, its multi-step process, and various bioprinting techniques, such as extrusion-, droplet-, and laser-based methods. Within the scope of biomimicry and biomimetics, emphasis is placed on how 3DP potentially enables the recreation of the retina's natural cellular environment, structural complexity, and biomechanical properties.

Breast cancer ranks as the second most widespread form of cancer globally. Currently, combination therapy is being actively employed in clinical practice to augment the efficiency of anticancer treatment. Hence, the objective of this study was to assess the therapeutic efficacy of a combination of femtosecond laser-based photodynamic therapy (PDT) utilizing two distinct photosensitizers (PSs), zinc phthalocyanine tetrasulfonate (ZnPcS) and α,β,χ,δ porphyrin-Tetrakis (1-methylpyridinium-4-yl) p-Toluenesulfonate porphyrin (TMPyP) in conjunction with doxorubicin chemotherapeutic agent, on mammary carcinomas experimentally induced in female mice using 7,12-dimethylbenz[a] anthracene (DMBA).

Article Synopsis
  • Traditional tooth preparation can be uncomfortable and risky, but femtosecond lasers provide a precise, non-invasive alternative that minimizes these issues.
  • This study aimed to evaluate how femtosecond laser treatment affects enamel and dentin through a review of in vitro and in vivo studies, following strict guidelines for systematic reviews.
  • After a thorough literature search, 48 relevant studies were identified, focusing on the quality of tooth preparation and the effects of laser parameters, although the overall quality of these studies was not assessed.

Vapor Channel Oscillations in Laser Lithotripsy.

Lasers Surg Med

R&D, IPG Medical, Marlborough, Massachusetts, USA.

Objectives: Laser-based endoscopic procedures present special challenges to deliver energy for ablation or coagulation of target tissues. When optical fiber-target quasi-contact (< 0.5 mm distance) cannot be maintained or is undesirable, the creation of intervening vapor bubbles and channels provide for the necessary transmission of laser energy to the target.
