We analyzed the dynamics of ultrastructural changes in cardiomyocytes in experimental chronic anthracycline cardiomyopathy. Doxorubicin-induced changes in cardiomyocytes were characterized by a specific combination of ultrastructural changes, which can be regarded as markers of the development of regeneratory and plastic insufficiency. These markers include a triad of changes: deformation of the nuclei with reorganization of the nucleolar system; diffuse and small focal lysis of myofibrils (mainly fine filaments); dilatation of agranular sarcoplasmic reticulum and the intermembrane perinuclear space connected to it. The terminal stages of these disorders are degeneration of some cardiomyocytes, their apoptotic death, and resorption by mononuclear cells (processes representing successive stages in the development of regeneratory and plastic insufficiency of the myocardium).

Purpose: To evaluate the posterior capsule opacification (PCO) and YAG laser capsulotomy (YAG-LCT) rates with a plate-haptic acrylic micro-incision intraocular lens (IOL) and the impact of primary posterior capsulorhexis.
Methods: A total of 97 patients scheduled for immediate sequential bilateral cataract surgery underwent a randomized, prospective intraindividual comparison with the ZEISS Asphina 409MV plate-haptic acrylic IOL with the eyes receiving an additional primary posterior capsulorhexis (PPCR) or not. YAG-LCT and PCO rates were evaluated at 1 and 3 years.

Objective: To compare the intensity of posterior capsular opacification (PCO) between a 1-piece and a 3-piece microincision cataract surgery intraocular lens (MICS IOL) in a prospective randomised study.
Methods: 80 eyes of 40 patients with age-related cataract were enrolled in this study. Each patient received a 1-piece MICS IOL (AF-1 NY-60, Hoya, Tokyo, Japan) in one eye and a 3-piece MICS IOL (AF-1 iMICS Y-60H, Tokyo, Hoya) in the other eye.

Structural changes in the colonic transplant were studied after esophagoplasty, carried out for post-burn cicatricial strictures of the esophagus. It was shown that artificial esophagus was liable to hypotony and deformation in delayed periods after reconstructive interventions. Regeneratory and adaptive reactions in the mucosa underlie its restructuring, while under pathological conditions proliferative catarrhal changes predominated in the artificial esophagus.

Intracellular reorganization of mouse adrenocorticocytes after single whole body hyperthermia is determined by the two main events: development of the general adaptation syndrome and inhibition of the regeneratory plastic reactions in cells resultant from endotoxication and redistribution of plastic resources between organs and tissues. Stress-induced changes manifest in significant exhaustion of lipid droplets in the adrenocorticocytes of all adrenocortical zones, particularly in the zona fasciculata. Intracellular changes in adrenocorticocytes reflecting the development of regeneratory plastic insufficiency manifest in annular transformation of the nucleoli, segregation of the nucleolonema into granular and fibrillar components, intensification of autophagocytosis, and destructive changes in mitochondria and Golgi complex elements.
