[reaction: see text]. A novel catalytic system for asymmetric hydrogenation of functionalized ketones has been developed using a Pd/bisphosphine complex as the catalyst in 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol. The reaction exhibits high enantioselectivity, and up to 92.2% ee was obtained.

The convergent total synthesis of ixabepilone and its analogues in a 13-step longest linear sequence is reported. The crucial chiral centers at challenging C3-O, C8-C and C15-N positions on the scaffold of the ixabepilone were installed via highly efficient asymmetric hydrogenations (up to 95% yield and up to 99% e.e.

Compared with chiral β-amino phosphorus compounds, which can be easily derived from natural optically pure α-amino acids, obtaining chiral β-amino phosphorus derivatives remains a challenge. These derivatives, which cannot be derived from chiral natural amino acids, possess unique biological activities or potential catalytic activities. Herein, highly enantioselective hydrogenation for the preparation of chiral β-amino phosphorus derivatives from -β-enamido phosphorus compounds is reported by using a green and low-cost earth-abundant metal nickel catalyst (13 examples of 99% ee).

The electrochemical reduction reaction (RR) of CO to high value multicarbon products is highly desirable for carbon utilization. Dual transition metal atoms dispersed by N-doped graphene are able to be highly efficient catalysts for this process due to the synergy of the bimetallic sites for C-C coupling. In this work, we screened homonuclear dual-atom catalysts dispersed by N-doped graphene to investigate the potential in CO reduction to C products by employing density functional theory calculations.

Asymmetry is a natural characteristic of Parkinson's disease (PD), which can be used to distinguish PD from atypical parkinsonism. Chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) has demonstrated value in reflecting the subtle changes related to neuron loss and abnormal protein accumulation in PD but has not been used to investigate asymmetry in PD. This study aimed to examine asymmetrical changes in the mesencephalic nucleus of PD patients with motor asymmetry using four-pool CEST analysis and to explore the relationship between imaging asymmetry and motor asymmetry.

Hydrazine-assisted water splitting is a promising strategy for energy-efficient hydrogen production, yet challenges remain in developing effective catalysts that can concurrently catalyze both the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and hydrazine oxidation reaction (HzOR) in acidic media. Herein, we report an effective bifunctional catalyst consisting of Rh clusters anchored on CoO branched nanosheets (Rh-CoO BNSs) synthesized an innovative arginine-induced strategy. The Rh-CoO BNSs exhibit unique Rh-O-Co interfacial sites that facilitate charge redistribution between Rh clusters and the CoO substrate, thereby optimizing their valence electronic structures.
