New pyrrolidino derivatives of both diamagnetic and paramagnetic trimetallic nitride templated endohedral metallofullerenes were synthesized by the Prato reaction, isolated and characterized by means of MALDI-TOF MS, NMR and UV-vis spectroscopies.

Metal-nitrogen double bonds have been commonly reported for conventional metal complexes, but the coexistence of both transition metal-nitrogen and lanthanide-nitrogen double bonds bridged by nitrogen within one compound has never been reported. Herein, by encapsulating a ternary transition metal-lanthanide heteronuclear dimetallic nitride into a C fullerene cage, transition metal-nitrogen and lanthanide-nitrogen double bonds are costabilized simultaneously within the as-formed clusterfullerene TiCeN@C(12)-C, which is a representative heteronuclear dimetallic nitride clusterfullerene. Its molecular structure was unambiguously determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, revealing a slightly bent μ-bridged nitride cluster with short Ti-N (1.

Traditional Fenton principles for degrading polysaccharides, including chondroitin sulfate (CS), are fraught with limitations, such as strict pH-dependence, higher temperature requirements, desulfurization, and environmentally perilous. In this study, an effective Fenton-like system comprising trimetallic-doped carbon nitride material (tri-CN) with hydrogen-bonded melamine-cyanuric acid (MCA) supramolecular aggregates as its basic skeleton was engineered to overcome the challenges of traditional methods. Detailed material characterizations revealed that, compared to monometallic-doped or bimetallic-doped counterparts, tri-CN offered a larger surface area, higher porosity, and increased metal loading, thereby enhancing reactant accessibility and polysaccharide degradation efficiency.

The pursuit of efficient and sustainable hydrogen production through water splitting has led to intensive research in the field of electrocatalysis. However, the impediment posed by sluggish reaction kinetics has served as a significant barrier. This challenge has inspired the development of electrocatalysts characterized by high activity, abundance in earth's resources, and long-term stability.

A trade-off of activity-selectivity exists in primary C-O hydrogenolysis of biomass-derived diols to secondary alcohols over bimetallic catalysts, especially the combination of noble metal and early transition metal in the metallic state and metal oxide state, respectively. Herein, the combination of high surface concentration of boron nitride (BN)-supported metals and the addition of Mo as third metal broke the trade-off. High yields (>50%) of secondary alcohols were obtained with robust productivity up to 25-fold based on Ir over Ir-Fe-Mo/BN (Ir = 20 wt %, Fe/Ir = 0.

Hydrogen production through pure water electrolysis is often found less economic as it requires high potential for water oxidation. The presence of urea in water involving effective urea oxidation can be considered as an effective strategy to produce hydrogen economically. Herein, we develop trimetallic nickel vanadium manganese nitride porous microspheres as an efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst for both urea oxidation reaction (UOR) as well as hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) mechanisms.
