Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) is a severe developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (DEE) characterized by multiple types of drug-resistant seizures (which must include tonic seizures) with classical onset before 8 years (although some cases with later onset have also been described), abnormal electroencephalographic features, and cognitive and behavioral impairments. Management and treatment of LGS are challenging, due to associated comorbidities and the treatment resistance of seizures. A panel of five epileptologists reconvened to provide updated guidance and treatment algorithms for LGS, incorporating recent advancements in antiseizure medications (ASMs) and understanding of DEEs.

Background: This study aimed to compare the impact of olanzapine, magnesium valproate, and lamotrigine as adjunctive treatments for anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis. And it is expected to add supporting points related to the rebalance of neurotransmitters in the brain through adjuvant therapy in the clinical management of anti-NMDAR encephalitis.
Methods: This retrospective study included patients diagnosed with anti-NMDAR encephalitis who received standardized immunotherapy at Hunan Brain Hospital between January 2018 and December 2020.

Lamotrigine is a commonly used anticonvulsant in treating seizures and bipolar disorder, but there is very limited literature on the management of its toxicity. Case reports have been published suggesting the potential role of hemodialysis in lowering serum lamotrigine levels, as well as sodium bicarbonate and lipid emulsion in treating dysrhythmia. After previously reported therapies failed to stabilize the patient's condition, the case presents our successful treatment experience using continuous veno-venous hemodiafiltration (CVVHDF) to stabilize lamotrigine levels, as well as intravenous rifampin as adjunctive therapy to facilitate lamotrigine metabolism.
