Dietary restriction (DR) is widely considered to be one of the most potent approaches to extend healthy lifespan across various species, yet it has become increasingly apparent that DR-mediated longevity is influenced by biological and non-biological factors. We propose that current priorities in the field should include understanding the relative contributions of these factors to elucidate the mechanisms underlying the beneficial effects of DR. Our work conducted in two laboratories represents an attempt to unify DR protocols in Drosophila and to investigate the stochastic effects of DR.

Cell dedifferentiation is considered an important hallmark of cancer. The atavistic reversal to a unicellular-like (UC) state is a less widely accepted concept, so far not included in the conventional hallmarks. The activated expression of ontogenetically earlier and evolutionary earlier genes in cancers supports both theories because ontogenesis partially recapitulates phylogenesis during cell differentiation (the cellular biogenetic law).

TransAnaNet: Transformer-based anatomy change prediction network for head and neck cancer radiotherapy.

Medical Artificial Intelligence and Automation (MAIA) Lab, Department of Radiation Oncology, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas, USA.

Background: Adaptive radiotherapy (ART) can compensate for the dosimetric impact of anatomic change during radiotherapy of head-neck cancer (HNC) patients. However, implementing ART universally poses challenges in clinical workflow and resource allocation, given the variability in patient response and the constraints of available resources. Therefore, the prediction of anatomical change during radiotherapy for HNC patients is of importance to optimize patient clinical benefit and treatment resources.

Endogenous reward (intrinsic reward at will) is a that is by steps toward any goals which are challenging and/or uncommon enough to prevent its debasement by inflation. A "theory of mental computational processes" should propose what properties let goals grow from appetites for endogenous rewards. Endogenous reward may be the universal selective factor in all modifiable mental processes.

The Lieb lattice is one of the simplest lattices that exhibits both linear Dirac-like and flat topological electronic bands. We propose to further tailor its electronic properties through periodic 1D electrostatic superlattices (SLs), which, in the long wavelength limit, were predicted to give rise to novel transport signatures, such as the omnidirectional super-Klein tunnelling (SKT). By numerically modelling the electronic structure at tight-binding level, we uncover the evolution of the Lieb SL band structure from the discrete all the way to the continuum regime and build a comprehensive picture of the Lieb lattice under 1D potentials.
