This article describes problems in the use and disposal of sharps used in the administration of insulin therapy in a hospital setting. Subsequent investigation and action taken to reduce the risk of needlestick injuries in staff who administer insulin therapy with an insulin pen delivery system are also discussed.

Neurocritical care as a field aims to treat patients who are neurologically critically ill due to a variety of pathologies. As a recently developed subspecialty, the field faces challenges, several of which are outlined in this review. The authors discuss aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, status epilepticus, and traumatic brain injury as specific disease processes with opportunities for growth in diagnosis, management, and treatment, as well as disorders of consciousness that can arise as a result of many neurological injuries.

Objective: Analysis of the effectiveness of the use of the drug Cytoflavin and the organization of the activities of nursing staff, within the framework of nursing care, in the complex therapy of patients with spinal cord injury (PSMT).
Material And Methods: Material and methods. 40 patients with PSMT due to a gunshot wound were examined, who were divided into two equal groups depending on the type of therapy performed: group 1 patients received the full volume of stage I medical rehabilitation (with additional use of neurodevelopmental techniques under the supervision of a Bobata department nurse) and standard drug therapy, including a course of intravenous Cytoflavin infusions followed by tablet form; group 2 patients received the full volume of stage I medical rehabilitation and standard drug therapy, but did not receive Cytoflavin.
Verbal deescalation training is lacking in nurse residency programs. This results in inability to mediate violent events, increased staff injury, and decreased job satisfaction. Training in verbal deescalation promotes confidence, satisfaction, and safety.

Collision-sport athletes, such as rugby players, are at risk of sport-related concussion (SRC). Women are known to be at higher risk of SRC and may experience more severe and chronic symptomology than men. Knowledge of the factors that affect a player's disclosure of their concussive symptoms could help to inform strategies to improve compliance with reporting and management of head injuries.

Research activities and scientific advance achieved in 2023 at the State Institution «National Research Center for Radiation Medicine of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine» (NRCRM) concerning medical problems of the Chornobyl disaster, radiation medicine, radiobiology, radiation hygiene and epidemiology in collaboration with the WHO network of medical preparedness and assistance in radiation accidents are outlined in the annual report. The report presents the results of fundamental and applied research works of the study of radiation effects and health effects of the Chornobyl accident. The institution has been reorganized and since December 2023 has been called the State Institution «National Research Center for Radiation Medicine, Hematology and Oncology» (NRCRM).
