A hydroalcoholic (50%) extract of Emblica officinalis (fruit) (EO-50) reduced the severity of hepatic fibrosis induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) and thioacetamide (TAA). Improved liver function was observed by measuring the levels of aspartate aminotransaminase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and bilirubin in serum. Hepatic parameters monitored were the levels of glutathione (GSH), lipid peroxidation (LPO) and hydroxyproline and the activities of catalase, glutathione peroxidase (GPx), Na+,K+-ATPase and cytochrome P450 (CYP 450 2E1) (aniline hydroxylation). The results suggested that EO-50 effectively reversed profibrogenic events possibly due to its promising antioxidative activity.

The use of alternative ingredients as supplements to or blends with kombucha tea to improve organoleptic properties and health effects has recently increased. Indian gooseberry fruit is among the most promising alternative raw materials for producing functional kombucha since the berries contain several beneficial substances. In this study, the production of functional kombucha beverages from fusions of black tea and Indian gooseberry fruit homogenate (IGH) was investigated, and the chemical and biological properties of kombucha products were evaluated and compared with those of traditional black tea kombucha products.

This study investigated the ability of Phyllanthus emblica encapsulated within chitosan-coated casein (CS-casein-Amla) nanoparticles to inhibit the growth of multi-drug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) bacteria and prevent the formation of biofilms. The MDR strains underwent screening, and the morphological characteristics of the resulting nanoparticles were assessed using SEM, DLS, and FTIR.

Aging is a complex process that involves many physiological mechanisms that gradually impair normal cellular and tissue function and make us more susceptible to diseases and death. It is influenced by intrinsic factors like cellular function and extrinsic factors like pollution and UV radiation. Recent scientific studies show that traditional plant-based foods and supplements can help mitigate the effects of aging.
