L-alanylglycyl-L-alanine monohydrate at 20 K.

Acta Crystallogr C

Institut für Chemie, Kristallographie, Freie Universität Berlin, Takustrasse 6, 14195 Berlin, Germany.

Published: July 2005

The X-ray crystal structure of the title compound, C8H15N3O4.H2O, at 20 K (space group P2(1)) reveals that the molecular conformation of the tripeptide is remarkably different from the water-free form (space group P2(1)2(1)2(1)) reported previously [Padiyar & Seshadri (1996), Acta Cryst. C52, 1693-1695].

Background: Collaborative Workspaces are rapidly growing and evolving across the world. Traditionally understood as an urban phenomenon, most research understands them as either 'entrepreneurial-led', as profit-driven and commercial spaces such as business incubators and accelerators, or 'community-led' as being bottom-up, not-for-profit ventures aimed at catering for the needs of their community. Recent years however have seen their diffusion beyond large urban agglomerations to small towns and villages, with their functions assumed to be more community-orientated.

Primordial black holes and their gravitational-wave signatures.

Living Rev Relativ

January 2025

Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation, University of Portsmouth, Dennis Sciama Building, Burnaby Road, Portsmouth, PO1 3FX UK.

In the recent years, primordial black holes (PBHs) have emerged as one of the most interesting and hotly debated topics in cosmology. Among other possibilities, PBHs could explain both some of the signals from binary black hole mergers observed in gravitational-wave detectors and an important component of the dark matter in the Universe. Significant progress has been achieved both on the theory side and from the point of view of observations, including new models and more accurate calculations of PBH formation, evolution, clustering, merger rates, as well as new astrophysical and cosmological probes.

The structural stability of the energetic material 2,2',4,4',6,6'-hexanitrostilbene (-HNS) under high pressure is critical for optimizing its detonation performance and low sensitivity. However, its structural response to external pressure has not been sufficiently investigated. In this study, high-pressure single-crystal X-ray diffraction data of -HNS demonstrate that the sample exhibits pronounced anisotropic strain, demonstrating an unusual negative linear compressibility (NLC) along the axis, with a coefficient of -4.

Objectives: Communication barriers, such as channels, comfort, and location, can negatively impact Black prostate cancer survivors' experiences and health outcomes after treatment. Addressing these barriers promotes a survivor-centric approach that views survivors as active partners in their care. This study explored the communication preferences of Black prostate cancer survivors, focusing on preferred channels, sources, and locations for enhanced quality of life.

Surgical Approaches to Pre-Auricular Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinomas Extending to the Temporal Bone.

Head Neck

January 2025

Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Queensland Skull Base Unit, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Background: Standardized surgical approaches to advanced pre-auricular cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas (cSCC) are lacking.

Methods: Fifty-four patients who underwent lateral temporal bone resection (LTBR) for pre-auricular cSCC were grouped into "Levels" of increasing disease spread. Surgical approaches to achieve negative-margin resection were designed for each Level and replicated on cadaveric specimens.
