Article Synopsis
  • A new optical tactile sensor using upconversion nanocrystals can separate dynamic touch signals into vertical normal and lateral shear forces from a single image in real-time.
  • This sensor mimics the way human skin works, providing a unique luminescence signal that differentiates between static and dynamic forces.
  • It offers high accuracy in identifying small objects and can recognize fingerprints, leading to innovative applications like Braille-to-Speech translation and advanced handwriting recognition systems.

DNA typing of latent fingerprints is highly desirable to increase chances of individualization. We recovered DNA from Cyanoacrylate (CA) fumed fingerprints and used both GlobalFiler™ and ForenSeq™ DNA Signature Prep kits for DNA typing. For GlobalFiler™, samples were processed using a protocol modified for Low Template (LT)-DNA samples (half-volume reactions, 30 cycles) while for ForenSeq™ DNA Signature Prep, samples were processed using a standard protocol and fluorometer-based library quantitation.

Introduction: Dermatoglyphic patterns identify genetic conditions as they develop early in pregnancy and remain constant throughout life. Multiple studies suggest that there is a genetic link to smokeless tobacco use. So, this study has been conducted to assess dermatoglyphic patterns among smokeless tobacco users in the North Gujarat population with nonconsumers.

September 2024

Department of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics, I.T.S. Center for Dental Studies and Research, Muradnagar, 201206 Ghaziabad, UP, India.

Aim And Objective: The study aimed to explore the correlation between dermatoglyphic patterns and quantitative palatal anatomic variables in individuals with different growth patterns.

Materials And Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 126 healthy patients aged 17-25 years. Participants were divided into three groups based on growth patterns: average, vertical, and horizontal.

Fingerprints hold evidential value for individual identification; a sensitive, efficient, and convenient method for visualizing latent fingermarks (LFMs) is of great importance in the field of crime scene investigation. In this study, we proposed an aggregation-induced emission atomization technique (AIE-AT) to obtain high-quality fingermark images. Six volunteers made over 1566 fingerprint samples on 17 different objects.
