The application of finely divided (black) Pd and Pd-Fe powder in the sono-electro-catalytic reduction of chlorophenoxy herbicides (2,4-D) and chlorophenols (2,4-DCP) in aqueous solutions allows for effective destruction of toxic chlorinated aromatic compounds. At 20 degrees C complete conversion of these compounds is observed within 10 min. On bimetallic Pd/Fe catalyst, intermediates due to the oxidation reaction are detected in addition to the products of dechlorination. The bimetallic catalyst appears to be energetically and economically superior to the Pd. In both cases, the reaction times were considerably shortened in comparison with traditional electro-catalytic processes.

For the first time, a TiCT-MXene and poly (3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly (styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT: PSS) composite-modified electrode has been developed for electrochemical detection of the bilirubin (BR) by molecularly imprinted ortho-phenylenediamine (o-PD). BR is a biomarker for liver-related diseases. High levels of BR imply liver dysfunction; hence, its exact and rapid measurement is indispensable to its immediate diagnosis and treatment.

Substitution metal doping strategies are crucial for developing catalysts capable of activating O, but the leaching of metal dopants has greatly hindered their potential for extensive oxidation reactions under mild conditions. Here, the study develops an entropy-increase strategy to synthesize high-entropy metal (Mg, Ca, Mn, Fe, and Co) interstitial functionalized anatase TiO (HE-TiO) nanosheets, demonstrating remarkable degradation efficiency across a wide pH range and exceptional stability in a flow-by electro-catalytic reactor. Relative to that of pristine TiO, the intense lattice distortion on the (001) plane, an average lattice expansion of 2% on the (100) plane, and decrease of second shell peak of X-ray absorption spectra serve as compelling evidence for the formation of metal interstitials in HE-TiO.

To enable the photoelectrocatalytic treatment of large volumes of water containing low concentrations of pollutants, this study introduces a hybrid photocatalyst, composed of nanotubular oxides grown on TiW alloy ( = 0.5 and 5.0 wt %) modified with UiO-66 MOF, for degradation of estrone (E1) and 17α-ethinyl estradiol (EE2).

Nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) and vertically-grown tin disulfide (SnS) nanosheets are synthesized via hydrothermal method and chemical vapor deposition technique, respectively. The SnSnanosheets are directly fabricated on flexible carbon cloth (CC), and then their basal planes are decorated with N-CDs. The as-prepared composite electrodes are used as the counter electrode for the application in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs).

Oxytocin (OXY), a peptide hormone and neurotransmitter essential for biological processes with nine distinct amino acid residues, has received significant attention due to its illegal use in food adulteration and stimulating milk ejection in cattle. Herein, for the first time, electrochemical detection of oxytocin (OXY) is reported using a novel nanocomposite consisting of a Zn-Cu metal-organic framework (Zn-Cu MOF) decorated on reduced graphene oxide (rGO). An octahedral surface morphology with a crystalline structure of 45 nm in size, formation of a metal-oxygen bond, an enhanced pore diameter of 6.
