A headspace gas chromatographic method has been developed for analysis of aliphatic amines in oligonucleotides. The linearity was improved by including ammonia in the sample vials. Also, carryover of longer chain primary amines, hexylamine and octylamine, was substantially reduced by cleaning the injection syringe with ammonia and water vapor between sample injections.

Introduction: Qualitative and quantitative testing of ethanol in samples is an important analytical procedure that provides accurate, precise, and reliable results. Given the complexity of the issue, obtaining a realistic picture of lifelong alcoholemia requires supporting blood ethanol findings with analyses of alternative samples, primarily vitreous humor (VH).
Objective: The objective of this study was to develop and validate a headspace gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (HS/GC-FID) method for determining ethanol concentration in VH.

The fermentation process in alcoholic beverage production converts sugars into ethanol and CO, releasing significant amounts of greenhouse gases. Here, Cupriavidus necator DSM 545 was grown autotrophically using gas derived from alcoholic fermentation, using a fed-batch bottle system. Nutrient starvation was applied to induce intracellular accumulation of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB), a bioplastic polymer, for bioconversion of CO-rich waste gas into PHB.

The volatile profile of bee pollen samples from Central and Eastern Europe was investigated by headspace solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME) combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry-olfactometry (GC-MS-O). Sampling conditions were optimized for the extraction of volatiles. Pollen odorants were extracted with six different fiber coatings, five various extraction times, three diverse extraction temperatures and three differing desorption times.
