Background: Since human peripheral eosinophils have been shown to migrate to the CXC chemokine receptor 3 (CXCR3) ligands IFN-gamma-inducible protein 10 (IP10) and monokine induced by IFN-gamma (Mig), this confirms that CXCR3 is functionally expressed on these cells. IP10 expression has been shown to be increased in the airways of asthmatics. Eosinophil accumulations are found in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) from patients with chronic eosinophilic pneumonia (CEP). To examine the contribution of IP10 and Mig in the pathogenesis of CEP, we measured the concentration of IP10 and Mig, and evaluated the expression of CXCR3 on eosinophils in BALF taken from patients with CEP.
Methods: The concentrations of IP10 and Mig in BALF were measured by ELISA. The proportion of CXCR3-expressing CD4+ T cells and CD16-negative eosinophils was determined by flow cytometry.
Results: The BALF concentrations of IP10 and Mig were higher in patients with CEP, as well as in patients with sarcoidosis, when compared to healthy controls. The absolute number of CXCR3+ CD4+ T cells was significantly higher in the BALF of patients with sarcoidosis, but not in the patients with CEP, when compared to healthy volunteers. There were higher percentages of CXCR3-expressing eosinophils in the BALF than in the peripheral blood of patients with CEP.
Conclusions: Our findings suggest that IP10 and Mig contribute to the accumulation of CXCR3-expressing eosinophils in the lungs of patients with CEP, and modulate the eosinophilic inflammation of the lung.

Background: The global pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 has resulted in millions of people experiencing long COVID condition, a range of persistent symptoms following the acute phase, with an estimated prevalence of 27%-64%.
Materials And Methods: To understand its pathophysiology, we conducted a longitudinal study on viral load and cytokine dynamics in individuals with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. We used reverse transcriptase droplet digital PCR to quantify viral RNA from nasopharyngeal swabs and employed multiplex technology to measure plasma cytokine levels in a cohort of people with SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Anxiety is a subjective feeling of fear in response to stressful or threatening situations. Chronic diseases (such as chronic kidney disease) or the state after kidney transplantation are such situations and they may result in a decreased quality of life. The main aim of this research was to evaluate if the proteins IL-8, RANTES, MIG, MCP-1, IP-10, and IL-12p70 could be indicators of higher levels of anxiety or decreased quality of life in chronically ill women.

Background: Interferon-γ release assays (IGRAs) for tuberculosis infection (TBI) cannot distinguish different stages of the TBI spectrum (including spontaneously cleared infection). We investigated patterns of Mtb-specific blood mediators in people with and without TBI during tuberculosis preventive therapy (TPT).
Methods: Individuals with likelihood of recent Mtb exposure, aged 15-25 years, with valid IGRA results, in whom tuberculosis (TB) had been excluded, were included.

Introduction: While the general immune response to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is well-understood, the long-term effects of Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1/Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus-2 (HIV-1/SARS-CoV-2) co-infection on the immune system remain unclear. This study investigates the immune response in people with HIV-1 (PWH) co-infected with SARS-CoV-2 to understand its long-term health consequences.
Methods: A retrospective longitudinal study of PWH with suppressed viral load and SARS-CoV-2 infection was conducted.

Chikungunya virus infection (CHIKV) increases the risk of persistent arthralgia; however, there is no consistent evidence regarding prognostic biomarkers of progression to chronic arthropathy. This systematic review provides an overview of currently available literature about the potential role of the acute immunologic response in predicting long-term joint pain in patients with a diagnosis of CHIKV. We searched for observational studies using the terms "chikungunya," "cytokines," "biomarkers," and "joint pain" in PubMed/MEDLINE, LILACS, Cochrane Library Plus, and SCOPUS databases, restricting to articles published in English and up to April 2024.
