Four new irregular monoterpenoids were identified in the essential oil of Lavandula luisieri (Rozeira) Riv. Mart., a Labiatae endemic to the Iberian Peninsula. By means of spectroscopic and chemical methods, they were characterised as 3,5-dimethylene-1,4,4-trimethylcyclopentene, 5-methylene-2,3,4,4-tetramethylcyclopent-2-enone, 3,4,5,5-tetramethylcyclopenta-1,3-dienecarboxaldehyde and 3,4,5,5-tetramethylcyclopenta-1,3-dienecarboxylic acid. L. luisieri essential oil and extract showed a good activity against Candida albicans and gram positive bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus, S. epidermidis and S. pyogenes.

Globally, climate change and wildfires are disrupting natural ecosystems, thus setting several endemic species at risk. The genus is widely present in the Mediterranean region and its species, namely, those included in the section are valuable resources of active compounds with several biological assets. Since ancient times lavenders have been used in traditional medicine and for domestic purposes.

Portuguese lavenders remain undervalued in global markets due to the lack of high-quality end-products and scarcity of scientific-based studies validating their bioactive potential. Moreover, chemical variability is frequent in these species, and can compromise both safety and efficacy. In the present study, the anti-inflammatory potential of and , two highly prevalent species in Portugal, was assessed and correlated with their chemical variability.

The connection with textiles is one of the oldest traditions in humanity, and in the historical scenario, textiles and clothing deal with material culture. Therefore, preservation is of the utmost importance to keep this important heritage. Packaging and protection of museological textiles is imperative due to the risks that these articles suffer, mainly concerning the attack of microorganisms that promote the acceleration of their degradation, and it is still necessary to create a proper packing material.
