Dapsone syndrome is a rare hypersensitivity reaction to dapsone and is characterized by high fever, papular or exfoliative dermatitis, progressing to liver toxicity and generalized lymphadenopathy, resembling a mononucleosis infection. We report a patient who developed acute renal failure, as well as other complications characteristic of dapsone syndrome, during leprosy treatment. Renal involvement had not been previously described as a dapsone syndrome feature.

Background: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) (C1) is a disease with multi-organ involvement that can have a variety of cutaneous manifestations in 76% of cases during the disease. Less than 1% of these patients are diagnosed with confirmed bullous systemic lupus erythematosus (C1). Given the wide differential diagnosis of a bullous lesion, it is imperative to reach a conclusive diagnosis as it can have a direct impact on the course of management of the disease.

Introduction: The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends rifampicin, dapsone and clofazimine multi-drug therapy (MDT) for the treatment of leprosy. Severe adverse effects include dapsone hypersensitivity syndrome, skin pigmentation, haemolytic anaemia, and hepatitis. At the Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD), London, United Kingdom monthly rifampicin, ofloxacin and minocycline (mROM) is used as first line treatment for leprosy.
