In this study, chitosan, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) were used to create ternary blends reinforced with organically modified montmorillonite nanoclay. Tramadol was used as a model drug to assess the efficacy of these ternary blends as drug delivery systems. The current work demonstrated the highly controlled release of tramadol transdermal administration.

Purpose: Co-administering multiple intravenous (IV) agents via Y-connectors is a common practice in hospitalised and fasting surgical patients. However, there is a lack of reliable data confirming the physical compatibility of some combinations including IV oxycodone, a drug that is gaining increasing popularity in the perioperative period. Concern regarding physical drug incompatibilities precludes concurrent coadministration with other common drugs through a single lumen.

A green, efficient, sensitive and accurate detection method by HPLC-DAD and LC-MS/MS was developed and validated for the quantification of morphine, hydromorphone, oxycodone, ketamine tramadol, dezocine, ropivacaine, remifentanil, butorphanol, bupivacaine, droperidol, fentanyl, lornoxicam and sufentanil. The 14 mixtures were chromatographed via HPLC-DAD method which employed 0.05 mol/L potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution-acetonitrile as the mobile phase, the analytes were gradient elution on a SinoChrom ODS-BP C column with a total separation time of 35 min, and 14 mixtures showed a good linear relationship in the linear range.
