Objectives: This experiment was carried out to investigate the protective effects of curcumin (CUR) on testicular damage induced by the valproic acid (VPA) administration.
Materials And Methods: Male Wistar-Albino rats (n=28, 250-300 g) were randomly divided into four groups: Control (1 ml saline, oral), VPA (500 mg/kg, IP), CUR (200 mg/kg, oral), or VPA+CUR (500 mg/kg, VPA, IP plus 200 mg/kg CUR, oral). The treatments were applied for 14 days.

Background: Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder characterized by mutations in the TSC1 and TSC2 genes, leading to the dysregulation of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway. This dysregulation results in the development of benign tumors across multiple organ systems and poses significant neurodevelopmental challenges. The clinical manifestations of TSC vary widely and include subependymal giant cell astrocytomas (SEGAs), renal angiomyolipomas (AMLs), facial angiofibromas (FAs), and neuropsychiatric conditions such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Aims: Previous studies suggest potential associations between epilepsy, anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs), and levels of vitamin D and vitamin D-binding protein (VDBP). This study aims to investigate the causal relationships among these variables using Mendelian Randomization (MR) methods.
Methods: Using summary data from genome-wide association studies on serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] levels (N = 417,580), VDBP concentrations (N = 65,589), and various types of epilepsy (Ncases = 27,559), MR analyses were conducted to determine bidirectional causal relationships among these variables.

Valproic acid (VPA) is a classic broad-spectrum antiepileptic drug, with significant pharmacokinetic variability. Genetic polymorphisms contribute to this variability, influencing both VPA trough serum concentration (VPA concentration) and VPA-induced liver injury. Our study aims to investigate the association between polymorphisms of uridine diphosphate glucuronyl transferase () , and VPA concentration and screen for potential genetic loci affecting VPA-induced liver injury.
