We investigated a source coherence effect on the measurement of the optical fiber nonlinear coefficient by use of dual optical frequencies. We produced coherent and incoherent dual optical frequencies with a self-heterodyne Mach-Zehnder interferometer with and without a delay line, respectively. Our measurement results included both an electrostrictive and a Kerr nonlinear coefficient because of the low modulation frequency. Comparing the coherent case with an incoherent case, we obtained a nonlinear coefficient that was more than 3% higher in the coherent case.

With the potential to surpass the Shockley-Queisser (S-Q) limitation for solar energy conversion, the bulk photovoltaic (BPV) effect, which is induced by the broken inversion symmetry of the lattice, presents prospects for future light-harvesting technologies. However, the development of BPV is largely limited by the low solar spectrum conversion efficiency of existing noncentrosymmetric materials with wide band gaps. This study reports that the strain-induced reduction of inversion symmetry can enhance the second-order nonlinear susceptibility (χ) of SnPSe crystals by an order of magnitude, which contributes to an extremely high value of 1.

Through non-dimensional analysis of the nonlinear sound absorption characteristics of rigid-porous layers, the results indicate that the nonlinear sound absorption trend of a porous layer (PL) at high sound pressure levels (SPLs) mainly depends on the state of flow resistance matching. When a PL is in an under-matched state, the sound absorption coefficient (SAC) will initially rise to a maximum and then gradually decline as SPL increases. Comparatively, when it is in an over-matched state, the SAC will decrease monotonically.

The Galerkin approach for numerically resolving higher-order Complex Differential Equations (CDEs) in a rectangular domain in the complex plane is presented in this work. Taylor polynomial functions are used in this method as basis or weighted functions. The CDE is converted into a matrix equation by employing the proposed method.

Objectives: This study investigates the use of sustained phonations recorded during high-speed videoendoscopy (HSV) for machine learning-based assessment of hoarseness severity (H). The performance of this approach is compared with conventional recordings obtained during voice therapy to evaluate key differences and limitations of HSV-derived acoustic recordings.
Methods: A database of 617 voice recordings with a duration of 250 ms was gathered during HSV examination (HS).

Boron nitride (BN), renowned for its exceptional optoelectrical properties, mechanical robustness, and thermal stability, has emerged as a promising two-dimensional (2D) material. Reinforcing AZ80 magnesium alloy with BN can significantly enhance its mechanical properties. To investigate and predict this enhancement during hot deformation, we introduce two independent modeling approaches a modified Johnson-Cook (J-C) constitutive model and an Artificial Neural Network (ANN).
