With the advent of fast imaging hardware and specialized software, additional non-invasive magnetic resonance characterization of tumors has become available through proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), hemodynamic imaging and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI). Thus, patterns could be discerned to discriminate different types of tumors and even to infer their possible evolution in time. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between MRS, DWI, histopathology and Ki-67 labeling index in a large number of brain tumors. Localized proton spectra were obtained in 47 patients with brain tumors who subsequently underwent surgery (biopsy or tumor removal). We performed MRS with short echo-time (30 ms) and metabolic values in spectra were measured using an external software with 25 peaks. In all patients who had DWI, we measured apparent diffusion coefficients (ADC) in the same region of interest (ROI) where the voxel in MRS was located. In most tumors the histological diagnosis and Ki-67 labeling index had been determined on our original surgical specimen. Cho/Cr, (Lip+Mm)/Cr, NAA/(Cho+Cr) and Glx/Cr indexes in MRS allowed discriminating between low- and high-grade gliomas and metastases (MTs). Likewise, absolute ADC values differentiated low- from high-grade gliomas expressed by Ki-67 labeling index. A novel finding was that high Glx/Cr in vivo MRS index (similar to other known indexes) was a good predictor of tumor grading.

Background: Granular cell tumor (GCT) is a rare soft tissue tumor characterized by Schwann cell differentiation. While GCT can occur in any part of the body, it is less common in the lower limbs. We report a case of a giant atypical GCT located in the left thigh, the tumor was initially small and painless at the time of discovery but gradually grew to 17 cm over a two-year period.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of diffusion-derived vessel density (DDVD) in characterizing tumor microvasculature in endometrial carcinoma (EC), and to explore the correlations with Ki-67 proliferation status and histological type based on DDVD values.
Methods: There were in total 81 EC patients. There were 64 cases of non-aggressive histological type, and 17 cases of aggressive histological type.

Canine high-grade oligodendrogliomas (HGOGs) exhibit a high expression of platelet-derived growth factor receptor-α (PDGFRA). We examined mutations and gain of and their association with the PDGFRA expression and proliferation of tumor cells in canine HGOG cases and cell lines. Polymerase chain reaction and sequence analysis revealed expected pathogenic mutations in exons 7 and 8 in 16/34 (47%) cases.

The aim of this study was to evaluate if the Ki-67 labeling index (LI) on immediate pre-ablation biopsies of colorectal liver metastases (CLM) is associated with the presence of viable tumor cells in subsequent ablation zone biopsies and/or local tumor progression-free survival (LTPFS). Biopsies of CLM were performed before and after microwave ablation (MWA), as part of a prospective clinical trial between October 2013 and May 2019. Pre-ablation biopsy slides were examined for the Ki-67 LI using light microscopy.
