The article documents the views and feelings of parents with learning difficulties as they reflect on their first-hand experience of going through care proceedings. Drawing on interviews conducted as part of a wider study of how cases involving mothers and fathers with learning difficulties are handled by the child protection system and the family courts, the authors provide a parental perspective on assessments, support, case conferences and the court process as well as the after-effects on the families themselves.

Ultrasound is a primary diagnostic tool commonly used to evaluate internal body structures, including organs, blood vessels, the musculoskeletal system, and fetal development. Due to challenges such as operator dependence, noise, limited field of view, difficulty in imaging through bone and air, and variability across different systems, diagnosing abnormalities in ultrasound images is particularly challenging for less experienced clinicians. The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology could assist in the diagnosis of ultrasound images.

Background: Neurodevelopmental conditions often exhibit overlapping symptoms, posing challenges for differential diagnosis. Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) manifests as fundamental motor impairments, often along with co-occurring visuospatial difficulties. Nonverbal Learning Disorder (NLD) features visuospatial core challenges, with a less consistent characterization of its motor profile.

Background: Exposure to IPV can negatively impact children's social functioning. However, children exposed to IPV can also display significant strengths. The early educational environment can be a key factor promoting resilience outside of the family, with early educators in an ideal position to identify a broad range of social challenges, strengths and needs of children exposed to IPV.

This study proposes a novel rolling bearing fault diagnosis technique based on a synchrosqueezing wavelet transform (SWT) and a transfer residual convolutional neural network (TRCNN) designed to address the difficulties of feature extraction caused by the non-stationarity of fault signals, as well as the issue of low fault diagnosis accuracy resulting from small sample quantities. This approach transforms the one-dimensional vibration signal into time-frequency diagrams using an SWT based on complex Morlet wavelet basis functions, which redistributes (squeezes) the values of the wavelet coefficients at different localized points in a time-frequency plane to the estimated instantaneous frequencies. This allows the energy to be more fully concentrated in actual corresponding frequency components.

The work main purposes were to identify the sources of problems and demands causing parental burnout and to specify the resources/support factors during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study was based on the Balance Theory of Risk and Support/Resource Factors (BR Model) by Mikolajczak and Roskam. The study explored the predictive value of socio-economic variables, religiosity, the meaning of life, positivity, perceived social support, family functionality, and balance between risks and resources in parental burnout using the structural equation modelling method on a sample of 337 parents.
