GWAS-Significant Loci and Uterine Fibroids Risk: Analysis of Associations, Gene-Gene and Gene-Environmental Interactions.

Front Biosci (Schol Ed)

December 2024

Laboratory of Genomic Research, Research Institute for Genetic and Molecular Epidemiology, Kursk State Medical University, 305041 Kursk, Russia.

Background: Uterine fibroids (UF) is the most common benign tumour of the female reproductive system. We investigated the joint contribution of genome-wide association studies (GWAS)-significant loci and environment-associated risk factors to the UF risk, along with epistatic interactions between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs).

Methods: DNA samples from 737 hospitalised patients with UF and 451 controls were genotyped using probe-based PCR for seven common GWAS SNPs: rs117245733 , rs547025 rs2456181 , rs7907606 , , rs58415480 , rs7986407 , and rs72709458 .

Background: Surgery is the best approach to treat endometrial cancer (EC); however, there is currently a deficiency in effective scoring systems for predicting EC recurrence post-surgical resection. This study aims to develop a clinicopathological-inflammatory parameters-based nomogram to accurately predict the postoperative recurrence-free survival (RFS) rate of EC patients.

Methods: A training set containing 1068 patients and an independent validation set consisting of 537 patients were employed in this retrospective study.

Purpose: This study aimed to develop and validate a model for accurately assessing the risk of distant metastases in patients with gastric cancer (GC).

Methods: A total of 301 patients (training cohort, n = 210; testing cohort, n = 91) with GC were retrospectively collected. Relevant clinical predictors were determined through the application of univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses.

Objective: We investigated the relation between man papillomavirus (HPV) integration status and the immediate risk of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), as well as the triage strategy based on HPV integration test.

Methods: 4086 women aged 20 to 65 years in China were enrolled in 2015 for a prospective, population-based, clinical observational study to evaluate the triage performance of HPV integration. Cervical exfoliated cells were collected for HPV testing and cytologic test.
