Lagomorph cranial biomechanics and the functional significance of the unique fenestrated rostrum of leporids.

Anat Rec (Hoboken)

March 2025

Department of Musculoskeletal and Ageing Sciences, Institute of Life Course and Medical Science, University of Liverpool, UK.

The crania of leporid lagomorphs are uniquely fenestrated, including the posterior cranial bones and the lateral portion of the maxilla. The functional significance of the highly fenestrated rostrum has received considerably little attention, despite being absent in other mammalian herbivores with a long rostrum. This unique feature is of particular interest when considering functional relationships between the loading regime and cranial structure.

Reactor for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production from Water.

ChemSusChem

March 2025

Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Department of Instrument Science and Engineering, No. 800 Dongchuan Road, 200240, Shanghai, CHINA.

Solar-energy-driven photocatalytic water (H2O) splitting converts solar energy into a high-valuable chemical, i.e. hydrogen (H2), and is thereby a promising technique for achieving a sustainable society.

Traditional methods of plasmid delivery, including viral vectors, lipofection, and electroporation, are widely used for gene editing but have limitations, such as cellular toxicity, limited transfection efficiency in primary cells, and nonspecific side effects. Here, we report the development of nucleus pulposus cell (NPC)-mimicking nanoparticles (HIF1A@NNP) with an NPC membrane as the shell and pcDNA3.1-rHIF1A encapsulated in the core via extrusion.

Streamlined and efficient genome editing in Cupriavidus necator H16 using an optimised SIBR-Cas system.

Trends Biotechnol

March 2025

Laboratory of Microbiology, Wageningen University and Research, Wageningen, The Netherlands; Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research (HIRI), Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI), Würzburg, Germany; LSC-EMBL Partnership Institute for Genome Editing Technologies, Life Sciences Center, Vilnius University, Vilnius, Lithuania. Electronic address:

Cupriavidus necator H16 is a promising microbial platform strain for CO valorisation. While C. necator is amenable to genome editing, existing tools are often inefficient or rely on lengthy protocols, hindering its rapid transition to industrial applications.

Time efficiency and precision of splinted complete arch implant scanning.

J Prosthet Dent

March 2025

Associate Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Electronic address:

Statement Of Problem: The precision and accuracy of intraoral scanners for complete arch implant scanning is questionable as it is affected by the absence of anatomic features, the presence of large homogenous areas, and the lack of clear reference points, all of which create inherent errors in the image stitching process by the scanner software program.

Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to test a newly designed scan-aid apparatus for evaluating the effect of geometric heterogeneity and additional reference points on the time efficiency and scanning precision of complete arch implant scanning.

Material And Methods: A total of 60 scans (20 per group) were performed using an intraoral scanner in 3 different clinical simulations: 2 parallel implants, 4 parallel implants, and 4 implants; 2 anterior implants in parallel axial orientation; and 2 distal implants with a 30-degree posterior inclination.
