Colorectal cancer ideally spreads via the haematogenous or lymphatic route with the most common metastasis to the liver or lungs. Metastasis of this cancer to the parotid gland has not been previously reported. This paper presents a case of rectal adenocarcinoma in a 34-year-old Pakistani male, who presented with histopathological evidence of metastasis in the parotid gland within one year of treatment.

The requirements for eligibility and monitoring before and after liver transplantation for alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) are different and not as well defined for MASLD as they are for ALD. Two groups of patients with ALD considered for liver transplant (LT) include those with decompensated cirrhosis from alcohol and those with severe alcohol-associated hepatitis. Both groups are required to commit to lifelong abstinence from alcohol.

A 62-year-old woman presented with a chronic fever and fatigue. Biological investigations showed leukocytosis and elevation of acute phase markers. Liver blood tests showed deterioration with both cholestatic and hepatocellular patterns (there were, respectively, elevations in serum alkaline phosphatase levels as well as in serum alanine and aspartate aminotransferases).
