In the present study, we analysed p53 autoantibodies from patients with head and neck cancer by ELISA, by Western blot using C- and N-terminal fragments of p53 and with peptide libraries of p53. We found that 8.2% of the patients with head and neck cancer developed antibodies against p53. Using additional p53 autoantibody-positive sera from patients with head and neck cancer, we found that all of these sera recognised common epitopes, which were also recognised by well-known mouse monoclonal antibodies against p53. Common epitopes are located in regions on the polypeptide chain of p53, which are functionally important for the role of p53 in growth control. Thus, the knowledge of these epitopes might be useful for the development of new strategies for cancer therapy.

Objective: TRIB3 has been confirmed to participate in and regulate biological metabolic activities in head and neck tumors such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma and oropharyngeal carcinoma, so the purpose of this study was to explore whether there is a correlation between TRIB3 and Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (LSCC) and to preliminarily explore the biological characteristics of TRIB3 in LSCC.
Methods: TRIB3 expression in the LSCC was analyzed based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. CCK-8 assay, Colony Formation Assay, wound healing assay, and Transwell assay were performed to investigate the roles of TRIB3 in the proliferation, invasion and metastasis of LSCC.
The current study aimed to objectively evaluate the fit of a rectangular, tapered stem to the severely dysplastic hips on the basis of the proximal femoral anatomy and the dimensional properties of the stem. It was hypothesized that the stem size planned with accordance to the diaphyseal canal width alone can accommodate the distal femur successfully with no sizing mismatch. Forty-six patients (53 hips) suffering from secondary osteoarthritis due to hip dysplasia scheduled for total hip arthroplasty (THA) with a subtrochanteric transverse shortening osteotomy were included.

Purpose: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are now first-line therapy for most patients with recurrent/metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (R/M HNSCC), and cetuximab is most often used as subsequent therapy. However, data describing cetuximab efficacy in the post-ICI setting are limited.
Methods: We performed a single-institution retrospective analysis of patients with R/M HNSCC treated with cetuximab, either as monotherapy or in combination with chemotherapy, after receiving an ICI.

Objective: To analyze the influence of proxemic factors on communication and care provided by nursing professionals during transfusion in hemotherapy.
Method: A descriptive, exploratory and qualitative study with 25 nursing professionals from a hospital specializing in onco-hematological diseases in Rio de Janeiro, based on a systematized script, individual records of proxemic factors described by Edward Hall and recorded situational interviews. The analysis considered data thematic content and used the SketchUp 3D Modeling Software Review program to visually demonstrate the behavioral mapping of the interaction of nursing professionals with patients during care.

Background: Monitoring hospitalization rates associated with oral health conditions is an important part of epidemiological surveillance, especially when these conditions have increased significantly in low-and middle-income countries. This study aimed to evaluate the temporal trends in hospital discharges associated with oral health-related conditions in Ecuador from 2000 to 2023 and identify the leading diagnoses groups.
Methods: An ecological time-series study was conducted based on annual data from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses of Ecuador.
