The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of supplementary antioxidants (AOX) and whey protein on the immune function health of puppies. Four groups of 10 puppies were fed a control and 3 different test foods (control + antioxidants (AOX), control + AOX + 1% whey protein, and a grocery brand (low AOX)) for 6 weeks. A standard vaccination protocol with a combination canine parvovirus (CPV) and distemper (CDV) vaccine was carried out at 2 and 4 weeks. The results showed that animals on high AOX foods had significantly increased titers, memory cells and serum E concentrations compared to the control and groc groups respectively.

Research Question: What are the clinical effects of using culture media supplemented with antioxidants (AOX) throughout the IVF process?
Design: Prospective randomized single-centre study. Cumulus-oocyte complexes and semen samples collected from 127 treatment cycles were divided evenly between the study arm (culture media with AOX) and the control arm (culture media without AOX). The primary endpoint was the good-quality blastocyst (GQB) rate on day 5-6 per metaphase II (MII) oocyte.

Some aspects of the relationship between ascorbate (Asc) metabolism and the functioning of mitochondrial alternative oxidase (AOX) under moderately high light (MHL, 400 μmol m s) using mutant lines were studied. After 8 h of MHL in the antisense line (AS-12), decreasing the relative reduced Asc pool due to increased ascorbate peroxidase activity was accompanied by the accumulation of a pool of the other highly effective antioxidant - glutathione. In the vitamin C-deficient line (), expression and the Asc pool were expectedly low, and after 8 h of MHL, dehydroascorbate (DHA) content was increased, although slight activation of AOX and L-galacton-1,4-lactone dehydrogenase was detected.

This study introduces a novel pH-sensitive, hirudin-loaded antioxidant nanoparticle (HD@iNano) aimed at addressing the challenges of hirudin's short half-life and hemorrhagic transformation. HD@iNano was engineered to safeguard and prolong hirudin's bioactivity by encapsulating it within antioxidative nanoparticles, facilitating its gradual release in acidic environments. The efficacy of this approach was validated through both ex vivo and in vivo experiments.

Glyphosate (GLY), the most widely used herbicide, has been regarded as an emergent environmental contaminant due to its constant and cumulative use, with potential harm to non-target organisms, such as crops, disrupting cells' redox balance. Therefore, plants need to fine-tune their antioxidant (AOX) mechanisms to thrive under GLY-contaminated environments. Proline overaccumulation is a common response in plants exposed to GLY, yet its role in GLY-induced toxicity remains unclear.
