DNA vaccination is discussed as having the potential of improving therapy of type I allergies. A mouse model was used to investigate the effect of DNA vaccination against sensitisation with the clinically relevant Phl p 5b major allergen from timothy grass pollen in an immunoprophylactic experimental setup. Pre-treating the mice with Phl p 5b-DNA-construct significantly inhibited the production of specific IgE and IgG1 antibodies and prevented the development of a lung pathology associated with inflammation. Thus, immunoprophylaxis with an expression vector containing the Phl p 5b sequence totally prevented the emergence of characteristics associated with type I allergy and chronic bronchitis.

Due to the emergence of drug resistance, androgen receptor (AR)-targeted drugs still pose great challenges in the treatment of prostate cancer, and it is urgent to explore an innovative therapeutic strategy. MK-1775, a highly selective WEE1 inhibitor, is shown to have favorable therapeutic benefits in several solid tumor models. Recent evidence suggests that the combination of MK-1775 with DNA-damaging agents could lead to enhanced antitumor efficacy.

INO-4800 represents a DNA-based vaccine encoding the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2. This phase 2 trial evaluated the immunogenicity and safety of INO-4800 as a primary vaccination series in adults. We conducted a randomized, observer-blind, placebo-controlled phase 2 trial of intradermal injection of INO-4800 in both healthy adults and elderly individuals.

Telomerase, constituted by the dynamic duo of telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT), the catalytic entity, and an integral RNA component (TERC), is predominantly suppressed in differentiated human cells due to postnatal transcriptional repression of the TERT gene. Dysregulation of telomerase significantly contributes to cancer development via telomere-dependent and independent mechanisms. Telomerase activity is often elevated in advanced cancers, with TERT reactivation and upregulation of TERC observed in early tumorigenesis.

In the 1980s, Poland was a medium-endemic country, with one of the highest incidences of hepatitis B in Europe (45/10 inhabitants). Pursuant to the WHO guidelines, obligatory vaccination was introduced in 1994-1996 (as a part of hepatitis B prophylaxis for newborns), and in 2000-2011, all 14-year-olds were vaccinated. To prevent transfusion-transmitted HBV infection (TT-HBV), since the 1970s, each donation has been tested for HBsAg and, since 2005, additionally for the presence of HBV DNA.

Background: Marek's disease (MD) is a pathology affecting chickens caused by Marek's disease virus (MDV), an acute transforming alphaherpesvirus of the genus . MD is characterized by paralysis, immune suppression, and the rapid formation of T-cell (primarily CD4+) lymphomas. Over the last 50 years, losses due to MDV infection have been controlled worldwide through vaccination; however, these live-attenuated vaccines are non-sterilizing and potentially contributed to the virulence evolution of MDV field strains.
