Over recent decades, optical imaging (OI) has become an integral part of medical imaging, offering significant advantages over other modalities, such as computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). OI is distinguished by its real-time imaging capability, cost-effectiveness, portability, absence of ionizing radiation, and high patient acceptability. The introduction of advanced optical dyes (including FDA-approved agents like indocyanine green, Cytalux, and Gleolan) has greatly enhanced its clinical utility.

Objective: This study aimed to introduce and evaluate a novel software-based system, BioTrace, designed for real-time monitoring of thermal ablation tissue damage during image-guided radiofrequency ablation for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Methods: BioTrace utilizes a proprietary algorithm to analyze the temporo-spatial behavior of thermal gas bubble activity during ablation, as seen in conventional B-mode ultrasound imaging. Its predictive accuracy was assessed by comparing the ablation zones it predicted with those annotated by radiologists using contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) 24 hours post-treatment, considered the gold standard.

The standard of care for early-stage NSCLC has historically been surgical resection. Given the association of lung cancer with smoking, a large number of early-stage patients also have active smoking-related medical comorbidities such as COPD precluding surgery. The current approach for treating such inoperable patients is frequently considered to be stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT).

The development of precise and reliable cancer treatments has been a long-standing goal in oncology. Conventional therapies often affect healthy tissues, leading to significant side effects. To overcome these challenges, researchers are exploring new methodologies that combine advanced drug delivery systems with state-of-the-art imaging technologies to target tumors more effectively.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFImaging-guided percutaneous core needle biopsy is currently the most common technique for the investigation of potentially malignant bone lesions. It allows precise needle placement and better visual guidance, leading to improved diagnostic accuracy. Needle tract seeding (NTS) is a rare complication of biopsies in general, and its true incidence remains unknown.
