The Hammam Faraun, Matulla, and Nubia formations in the Ashrafi oil field, in the southern Gulf of Suez, Egypt, are key hydrocarbon reservoirs with significant economic importance. These formations, characterized by their favorable reservoir properties and structural settings, play a crucial role in oil and gas accumulation. Their study provides valuable insights into regional petroleum systems and guides exploration and production activities.

This study examines the complexities of climate modeling, specifically in the Panj River Basin (PRB) in Central Asia, to evaluate the transition from CMIP5 to CMIP6 models. The research aimed to identify differences in historical simulations and future predictions of rainfall and temperature, examining the accuracy of eight General Circulation Models (GCMs) used in both CMIP5 (RCP4.5 and 8.

Single-Crystal Elasticity of α-Hydroquinone-An Analogue for Organic Planetary Materials.

ACS Earth Space Chem

January 2025

Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Texas at San Antonio, San Antonio, Texas 78249, United States.

In this study, we measured the single-crystal elasticity of α-hydroquinone at ambient conditions using Brillouin spectroscopy to assess the feasibility of this technique for studying the mechanical properties of organic ices in the outer solar system. In this study, α-hydroquinone serves as an ambient temperature analogue for low-temperature organic ices on Titan and other solar system bodies. We found that a satisfactory Brillouin spectrum can be obtained in less than 5 min of experimental time with negligible damage to the sample.

The seismic refraction technique has demonstrated its efficiency as a cost-effective geophysical approach for bedrock investigation, which is very important for major construction projects. In the southern part of New Qena City, in the Eastern Desert of Egypt, construction of many domestic facilities is planned. Therefore, a prior investigation focusing on bedrock is required to validate the site for construction and other projects.

Tidal Deformation and Dissipation Processes in Icy Worlds.

Space Sci Rev

January 2025

Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Department of Geophysics, Charles University, V Holesšovičkách 2, Praha, Praha 8 180 00 Czech Republic.

Tidal interactions play a key role in the dynamics and evolution of icy worlds. The intense tectonic activity of Europa and the eruption activity on Enceladus are clear examples of the manifestation of tidal deformation and associated dissipation. While tidal heating has long been recognized as a major driver in the activity of these icy worlds, the mechanism controlling how tidal forces deform the different internal layers and produce heat by tidal friction still remains poorly constrained.
