Lyme disease is caused by the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi and it is the most common vector-borne disease in the United States. Disseminated spirochetes can persist in various tissues and can result in a variety of different disease manifestations. Vaccination trials testing various lipoprotein candidates have yielded mixed results despite the generation of robust antibody titers. Data presented in this report demonstrate that a combination vaccine composed of DbpA, BBK32 and OspC is more effective than single or double component formulations and that the ratio of each component dramatically impacts vaccine efficacy when tested in protection experiments against Borrelia following needle inoculation.

Background: A significant rise in childhood obesity worldwide over the past three decades highlights the urgent need for early interventions, especially in preschools as key settings for child development. This study aimed to assess the feasibility and fidelity of a randomised controlled trial of "I'm an Active Hero" (IAAH), a theory- and evidence-based multi-component behaviour change intervention targeting physical activity and sedentary behaviour amongst preschool-aged children.
Methods: Two preschools in Taif city, Saudi Arabia were randomly assigned to either the intervention ( = 3 classrooms) or the usual curriculum control group ( = 3 classrooms).

Two compounds, 2,4-dinitroanisole (DNAN) and 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-5-one (NTO) are the main ingredients in a suite of explosive formulations that are being, or soon will be, fielded at military training ranges. We aim to understand the dissolution characteristics of DNAN and NTO and three insensitive muntions (IM) formulations that contain them. This information is needed to accurately predict the environmental fate of IM constituents, some of which may be toxic to people and the environment.
