Seeding and working banks of the continuous MDCK cell culture suitable for the production of cultured influenza vaccine were created and deposited at liquid nitrogen temperature at the "Vector" State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology. The MDCK cell culture was shown to have morphology typical of the discussed cell line; it does not have any alien agents and is oncogenically safe; its enzimogram and karyotype are typical of the donor line; finally, its biological properties are stable during a long period of cultivation and its sensitivity to influenza virus is high, therefore, it can be recommended for the production of influenza vaccine. The continuous MDCK cell line was certified at Tarasevich Committee and was recommended by the MIBP Committee, Russia's Health Ministry, for its use as a substrate in the production of diagnostic and preventive immunoglobulins.

We previously isolated a cDNA clone for galactosylceramide expression factor 1, which is the rat homologue of hepatocyte-growth-factor-regulated tyrosine kinase substrate (HGS) and induces galactosylceramide expression and morphological changes in COS-7 cells, and reported that overexpression of HGS induced morphological changes in canine kidney epithelial MDCK cells. HGS is a component of the endosomal sorting complexes required for transport machinery that mediates endosomal multivesicle body formation. In this study, the overexpression of HGS induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition and caused transformation in MDCK cells, whereas the overexpression of a coiled-coil domain of HGS inhibited induction of epithelial-mesenchymal transition by HGF stimulation.

Background: Rapid vaccine platforms development is crucial for responding to epidemics and pandemics of emerging infectious diseases, such as Ebola. This study explores the potential of peptide vaccines that self-organize into amyloid-like fibrils, aiming to enhance immunogenicity while considering safety and cross-reactivity.
Methods: We synthesized two peptides, G33 and G31, corresponding to a segment of the Ebola virus GP2 protein, with G33 known to form amyloid-like fibrils.

Access of drugs to the central nervous system is limited by the blood-brain barrier, and this in turn affects drug efficacy/toxicity. To date, most drug discovery optimization paradigms have relied heavily on in vitro transporter assays and preclinical species pharmacokinetic evaluation to provide a qualitative assessment of human brain penetration. Because of the lack of human brain pharmacokinetic data, mechanistic models for preclinical species, combined with in vitro and in silico data, are useful for translation to human.
