Conclusion: These results suggest that COX-2 and bcl-2 protein were overexpressed and that apoptosis was reduced in MEC compared to PMA, and that COX-2 may regulate the degree of apoptosis by modulating bcl-2 protein in PMA and MEC.
Objective: Cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 plays a crucial role in tumorigenesis and overexpression of COX-2 in vitro accompanied by overexpression of bcl-2 protein has been shown to reduce apoptosis. The purpose of this study was to verify that COX-2 regulates the degree of apoptosis by modulating bcl-2 protein in benign and malignant parotid gland tumors. : We examined archival formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections of 10 pleomorphic adenomas (PMAs) and 10 mucoepidermoid carcinomas (MECs) by immunostaining with anti-COX-2, anti-bcl-2 and anti-single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) antibodies. Labeling indices of the three antibodies were calculated using computer-assisted image analysis.
Results: Labeling indices (mean+/-SD) of anti-COX-2 antibody in PMA and MEC were 2.05+/-1.30 and 11.2+/-2.95, respectively (p < 0.001), those of anti-bcl-2 antibody were 2.00+/-1.28 and 9.68+/-4.05, respectively (p < 0.001) and those of anti-ssDNA antibody were 8.06+/-2.54 and 2.08+/-1.47; respectively (p <0.001). Correlation coefficients between the labeling indices of anti-COX-2 antibody and anti-bcl-2 antibody, anti-bcl-2 antibody and anti-ssDNA antibody and anti-COX-2 antibody and anti-ssDNA antibody were 0.88, -0.75 and -0.76, respectively (p <0.001).

Objective: Minor ginsenosides have demonstrated promising anticancer effects in previous reports. Total minor ginsenosides (TMG) were obtained through the fermentation of major ginsenosides with , and potential anticancer effects of TMGs on the mouse colon cancer cell line CT26.WT, and , were investigated.

Introduction: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most challenging subtype of breast cancer to treat. While previous studies have demonstrated that ginsenoside Rh2 induces apoptosis in TNBC cells, the specific molecular targets and underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. This study aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms through which ginsenoside Rh2 regulates apoptosis and proliferation in TNBC, offering new insights into its therapeutic potential.

Gliomas are the most common primary tumors of the nervous system, which is generally treated using adjuvant chemotherapy following surgical resection. However, patient survival time is still short, and there is currently no successful treatment for highly malignant gliomas. Bullatine A (BLA) is a diterpenoid alkaloid of the genus Aconitum which antirheumatic and anti-inflammatory pharmacological properties.

From preclinical and clinical findings, it has been shown that the amygdala is a critical mediator of stress and primary target for stress effects in the brain. We investigated the neuroprotective effect of Ginkgolide B (GB) in repeated restraint stress-induced behavioral deficit and amygdalar inflammation in mice. Mice were orally pre-treated with GB 20 mg/kg 1 h prior to 4 h restraint stress for 21 consecutive days.

Introduction: Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by progressive neurodegeneration within the nigrostriatum, leading to motor dysfunction. This systematic review aimed to summarize the effects of various exercise training regimens on protein or gene expression within the nigrostriatum and their role in neuroprotection and motor function improvement in animal models of Parkinson's disease (PD).
Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science were searched up to June 2024 and included sixteen studies that adhere to PRISMA guidelines and CAMARADES checklist scores ranging from 4 to 6 out of 10.
