Accurate assessment of fibrin clot stability can predict bleeding risk in coagulopathic conditions such as thrombocytopenia and hypofibrinogenemia. Hyperfibrinolysis - a clinical phenotype characterized by an accelerated breakdown of the fibrin clot - makes such assessments challenging by obfuscating the effect of hemostatic components including platelets or fibrinogen on clot stability. In this work, we present a biofunctionalized, microfluidic, label-free, electronic biosensor to elicit unique, specific, and differential responses from the multifactorial processes of blood coagulation and fibrinolysis ex vivo.

Background: Vascular surgery may be followed by internal bleeding due to inadequate surgical haemostasis, abnormal clotting, or surgical complications. Bleeding ranges from minor, with no transfusion requirement, to massive, requiring multiple blood product transfusions. There are a number of drugs, given systemically or applied locally, which may reduce the need for blood transfusion.

Antifibrinolytic drugs are used to reduce blood loss and subsequent transfusions during surgery and following trauma, but the optimal dosing regimen in the pediatric population is still unresolved. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate efficacy and safety of antifibrinolytic drugs in pediatric surgery and trauma to determine the optimal dosing regimen. A literature search was performed in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science on May 3, 2020.

Development of ascites is the most common form of decompensation of cirrhosis. We aimed to investigate the coagulation system in ascitic fluid and plasma of patients with cirrhosis. We determined coagulation parameters and performed clotting and fibrinolysis experiments in ascitic fluid and plasma of thoroughly characterized patients with cirrhosis and ascites ( = 25) and in plasma of patients with cirrhosis but without ascites ( = 25), matched for severity of portal hypertension.

Aim: To compare two synthetic graft materials, TachoComb®, a fibrin sealant composed of collagen, fibrinogen, thrombin and aprotinin and TissuDura®, a collagen-based biomatrix.
Material And Methods: Thirty Sprague?Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups with 10 animals in each group. A dural defect was created on the left parietal bone of each animal, and the dural defect was repaired using either TachoComb® (TachoComb group) or TissuDura® (TissuDura group).
