Background: Whole-body 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG PET) has been used for whole-body imaging modality in detecting malignancy in clinical oncology. However, only a few reports of FDG PET in skin cancers have been described, except for melanoma and lymphoma.
Objective: To report on the usefulness of FDG PET as a baseline workup study for patients with cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).
Methods: There were 12 cases of SCC (9 cases with high-risk SCC). Of the 12, FDG PET was performed for staging in 11 patients and for restaging in 1 patient 1 year after wide excision.
Results: Primary lesions were detected in nine cases (83.3%), lymph node involvement in three cases (25.0%), and distant. organ (lung) involvement in one case (8.3%). In one patient whose primary lesion was positive, stomach cancer with involvement of adrenal glands, omentum, and lymph nodes was incidentally detected. All of the patients with high-risk SCC showed FDG uptakes of the primary lesions, and the patients with FDG uptakes in lymph nodes and distant organ had high-risk SCC.
Conclusion: There have been no comparative studies on the cost-effectiveness between sentinel lymph node biopsy and FDG PET in SCC patients. However, considering the noninvasiveness and thoroughness in checking the whole body, including distant organs, FDG PET may have clinical value as a baseline workup study for patients with high-risk SCC.

Objectives: To investigate whether 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography ([F]F-FDG PET/CT) metabolic parameters were associated with histology and to assess their prognostic role in patients with thymic lesions.
Patients And Methods: In total, 116 patients (49/67 M/F; mean age 59.5 years) who underwent preoperative [F]F-FDG PET/CT and thymectomy from 2012 to 2022 were retrospectively analyzed.

Sydenham's chorea is an autoimmune reaction against cerebral basal ganglia associated with rheumatic fever, caused by group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus infection. Diagnosis of this condition is difficult because of significant delay between infection onset and symptoms presentation, resulting in few positive biological tests or imaging exams. We report the case of a nine-year-old boy exhibiting hemicorporal abnormal movements with tics for whom [F]FDG PET/CT exam allowed to make the diagnosis, associated with anti-DNase B elevation.

Although pleomorphic adenomas of the salivary glands are benign tumors, they can metastasize to distant organs without evidence of malignant transformation. We describe FDG PET/CT finding in a case of metastasizing pleomorphic adenoma in the right ilium occurring 22 years after initial surgical resection of a lip pleomorphic adenoma. On FDG PET/CT, the iliac metastasis appeared as an expansile osteolytic lesion with heterogeneous activity.

Late-stage eosinophilic myocarditis (or Löffler endocarditis) is known to occur in patients with hypereosinophilic syndrome and can cause restrictive cardiomyopathy. Eosinophilic myocarditis is an acute life-threatening inflammatory disease of the heart that can be associated with cancer. We report a case of a 70-year-old White woman, previously treated for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in remission, admitted for acute dyspnea with a 1-year history of hypereosinophilia.

A 9-month-old girl was evaluated for recurrent fevers, rash, and indurated plaques, with laboratories demonstrating hyperferritinemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and pancytopenia, concerning for hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. Biopsy of thigh lesion ultimately demonstrated subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma. In a rare neoplasm of cytotoxic T-cells, subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma presents with subcutaneous nodules in all age groups including children.
