We present a new idea for diffuse source spectroscopy using a Fourier-transform volume holographic spectrometer formed by a Fourier-transform lens, a volume hologram, and a CCD. We show that this spectrometer can operate well under spatially incoherent light illumination. Furthermore, this spectrometer is less bulky, less sensitive to input alignment, and potentially more appropriate for implementation of highly sensitive spectrometers than conventional spectrometers.

Tumor hypoxia significantly limits the effectiveness of radiotherapy, as oxygen is crucial for producing cancer-killing reactive oxygen species. To address this, we synthesized nanosized faujasite (PBS-Na-FAU) zeolite crystals using clinical-grade phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) as the solvent, ensuring preserved crystallinity, microporous volume, and colloidal stability. The zeolite nanocrystals showed enhanced safety profiles and , and studies showed no apparent toxicity to animals.

Mesoporous materials have garnered significant interest because of their porous structure, large surface area and ease of surface functionalization to incorporate the functional groups of choice. Herein, chiral mesoporous silica nanoparticles (CMSNPs) were prepared using quaternary amino silane as the template, tetramethyl orthosilicate as the silica source and proline and cellulose as chiral selector. The developed CMSNPs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, BET surface area analysis and BJH pore size/volume analysis.

In the current work, three adsorbent materials were developed: biochar derived from date palm fiber (C), date palm fiber biochar/chitosan nanoparticles (CCS), and biochar/chitosan nanoparticle composite supplemented with glutamine (CCSG). These compounds were used as solid adsorbents to remove As from polluted water. Several characterization approaches were used to investigate all the synthesized solid adsorbents, including thermogravimetric analysis, N adsorption/desorption isotherm, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), attenuated total reflectance with Fourier transform infrared, and zeta potential.

In this study, a thorough examination of the chemical, thermal, and mechanical characteristics, as well as shape memory behavior at low temperatures, of blends consisting of polylactic acid (PLA) and polyurethane (TPU) is conducted. The research involves the preparation of PLA/TPU mixtures with varying concentrations of TPU using a high-speed thermo-kinetic mixing approach. Chemical, morphological, and thermal analyses were conducted on pure PLA, TPU, and PLA/TPU mixtures by using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction pattern spectroscopy (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA).

In recent years, the design of various ultrasound responsive echogenic nanomaterials offers many advantages such as deep tissue penetration, high signal intensity, colloidal stability, biocompatibility and less expensive for ultrasound-based cancer cell imaging while providing the option to monitor the progress of tumor volume during the treatment. Further, the ability of nanomaterials to combine photo-thermal therapy (PTT) and chemotherapy has opened a new avenue in the development of cancer theranostics for synergistic cancer therapy. Herein, we report MoS nanoflowers (NFs) surface decorated with CuS nanorods (NRs) and folic acid-derived carbon dots (FACDs) using cystine-polyethyleneimine (PEI) linker for PTT-chemotherapy.
