Background: With improved outcomes in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) due to the use of anti-retroviral therapy, ensuring adequate preventative healthcare and management of HIV-related comorbidities is essential.
Aims: To evaluate adherence with recommended guidelines for comorbidity and immunisation status screening amongst people living with HIV within a hospital-based setting across two timepoints.
Methods: A single-centre retrospective case series was conducted at a hospital between 2011 and 2021.

Oxidative stress plays a critical role in postmenopausal osteoporosis, yet its impact on osteoblasts remains underexplored, limiting therapeutic advances. Our study identifies phospholipid peroxidation in osteoblasts as a key feature of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Estrogen regulates the transcription of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), an enzyme crucial for reducing phospholipid peroxides in osteoblasts.

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a mono-genic disorder causing chronic hemolysis, anemia, and vaso-occlusion, leading to musculoskeletal complications such as osteonecrosis, osteoporosis, and bone fractures affecting 50-70% SCD patients. These complications result from a complex interplay of genetic and physiological factors, including abnormal hemoglobin production, chronic inflammation, and oxidative stress. This review discusses the pathophysiology, pre-clinical symptoms, and clinical manifestations of musculoskeletal complications in SCD, as well as current treatment options, including pharmacological interventions, surgical procedures, and bone marrow transplantation.

Objective: This study aims to systematically assess the therapeutic effects of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) kidney-tonifying methods on osteoporosis in HR+ breast cancer patients after endocrine therapy, and to explore their clinical application value.
Methods: This systematic review and meta-analysis adhered to the PRISMA guidelines and aimed to evaluate the impact of TCM kidney-tonifying methods on osteoporosis in HR+ breast cancer patients after endocrine therapy. Literature searches were conducted through October 2024 in databases including CBM, CNKI, Wanfang Data, PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Central, VIP, and renowned TCM databases such as TCM Online.

Osteoporosis, a significant bone disease predominantly affecting elderly and postmenopausal women, leads to increased bone fragility and fracture risk, presenting a major public health concern with substantial socioeconomic implications. This study investigated the therapeutic potential of Lactobacillus strains, known for their immunomodulatory properties, in an ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis mouse model. Among three tested strains Lactobacillus casei GKC1, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GKLC1, and Lactobacillus johnsonii GKJ2, GKC1 demonstrated superior efficacy in promoting osteogenesis-related gene expression, including alkaline phosphatase (ALP), bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2) and runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2).
