The major carp, Labeo rohita were exposed to (0.873%) lethal and sublethal (0.073%) concentrations of tannery effluent for 24h and 40 days respectively under static bioassay condition. The surface architecture of gill revealed severe damages such as : fusion and clumping in the middle and distal parts of the primary lamellae, swelling and deterioration of the cells. The interlamellar space was filled either with hyperplastic epithelial or mucous cells. Secondary lamellae lost their identity and appeared finger like in structure in the lethal concentration and necrosis was observed in the primary and secondary epithelium. Swelling of primary and secondary epithelial cells was evident in sublethal concentration.

The present study evaluated the potential of Ashoka, Saraca asoca leaf meal (SLM), in carp diets following fermentative processing with a tannase-producing fish gut bacterium, Bacillus subtilis (KP765736). The processing of SLM led to a significant (P < 0.05) reduction in major anti-nutrients (tannin, trypsin inhibitor, and crude fiber), while crude protein content increased.

The salinization of the water environment worldwide is increasing, which has brought great challenges to the sustainability of fish farming of aquatic animals. Three NaHCO concentration groups (0 mmol/L, 20 mmol/L, and 60 mmol/L) were set up in this study to investigate growth and metabolic differences between diploid and triploid crucian carp under saline-alkaline stresses. This study utilized UPLC-QTOF/MS metabolomics to analyze significant metabolites and metabolic pathways in the serum of diploid and triploid crucian carp, exposing them to different NaHCO concentrations in saline-alkaline habitats, elucidating the mechanism of their metabolic differences.

Ochetobius elongatus, a critically endangered species found in the Yangtze River was the subject of our study in which we leveraged PacBio and Hi-C data to assemble a chromosome-scale genome. This assembly comprises 24 pseudo-chromosomes, yielding a genome size of 883.1 Mb with a scaffold N50 length of 35.
