A study was conducted to determine how important rats and dogs are in the dissemination of leptospirosis in farms and stales located in Ciudad Guzmán, Jalisco. Thirteen of Leptospira interrograns serovarieties were used in microagglutination test of serogroups (MAT). Three hundred and fifty four rats (Rattus rattus and Rattus norvergicus) trapped in agricultural areas of the place were studied; 22 were positive (6,2%) and 34 suspected of leptospirosis (9,6%). Also four hundred and nineteen dogs from the region were tested; 22,6 % (95 dogs) were positive and 5,7%(24) suspected of L. Interrogans. These results showed that both species are important in the dissemination of the disease.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the collagen fiber structure of the subcutaneous fascia, a connective tissue layer between the skin and epimysium.

Methods: Fascia samples with varying extensibility were examined using biochemical and microscopic methods.

Results: Loose fascia, the more extensible type, displayed sparsely distributed collagen fibers, while dense fascia showed tightly packed collagen fiber bundles.

Staphylococcaceae are a diverse bacterial family with important implications for human and animal health. This study highlights the One Health relevance of their environmental dispersal, particularly, by identifying closely related or genetically identical strains circulating between farm and community environments. Environmental Staphylococcaceae strains were isolated from animal farms and interconnected areas within a university setting, both influenced by anthropogenic activities.

Water conveyance channels in cold and arid regions pass through several saline-alkali soil areas. Canal water leakage exacerbates the salt expansion traits of such soil, damaging canal slope lining structures. To investigate the mechanical properties of saline clay, this study conducted indoor tests, including direct shear, compression, and permeation tests, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis of soil samples from typical sites.

This review explores the impact of anthocyanins derived from purple and black rice on starch and protein digestibility, gut microbiota modulation, and their applications in food production. Anthocyanins are shown to reduce starch digestibility by forming complexes with starch, thereby inhibiting key digestive enzymes. Additionally, they can influence protein digestion by inducing structural changes that enhance resistance to digestive processes.

Optimized Cerium vanadate catalytic host with simple heterostructure engineering achieving regulated polysulfide deposition for high-performance Lithium-Sulfur batteries under harsh conditions.

Meliorating the behavior deposition of lithium polysulfides (LiPS) is crucial for enhancing the electrochemical performance of sulfur cathodes, which could be implemented by the precise modulation on the catalytic host. Herein, heterostructure engineering is employed to tune up the catalytic capability of CeVO, by introducing CeO through a simple adjustment in the addition sequence of reactants. The formed CeVO/CeO heterostructure has been demonstrated to exhibit appropriate interaction strength with LiPS for accelerating the catalytic conversion process, as well as an engineered surface for inducing three dimensional (3D) LiS deposition, thereby endowing the corresponding sulfur cathodes with excellent electrochemical performance under harsh conditions.
