Antimicrobial susceptibility of 79 non-typable Haemophilus influenzae isolations obtained from healthy children that attended two day-care centers in Marianao municipality. It was found resistance to trimetoprim/sulfamethoxazole (41,77 %), tetracycline (18,99), ampicilline (17,72 %), amoxicillin/ clavulanic acid (7,59 %) and chloramphenicol (6,33 %). 25,81 % of isolates showed multiresistance. 100 % of studied cases was sensitive to ceftriaxone, cefuroxime and norfloxacin. 28,57 % of ampicilline-resistent isolates produced beta-lactamase enzyme. Chloramphenicol resistance was mediated by the production of chloramphenicol acetyltransferase enzyme.

Introduction: In this comparative case study, we discuss clinically relevant discrepancies of antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) interpretation for ceftriaxone against a non-typable, beta-lactamase negative, ampicillin-resistant (BLNAR) isolated from a blood culture.
Case Report: A 74-year-old man presented with a 3 day illness characterized by shortness of breath and dry cough, and was noted to be febrile and hypoxic on admission. A blood culture bottle flagged positive with Gram-negative coccobacilli, later identified as with the patient commenced on ceftriaxone.

Haemophilus influenzae is one of the main bacteria responsible for otitis media (OM) among children worldwide. We aimed to estimate the distribution of encapsulated and non-capsulated variants (NTHi), biotypes, antibiotic susceptibility, and molecular epidemiology of H. influenzae isolates recovered from pediatric OM cases in Bulgaria.

Objectives: It is feared that the serotype replacement of occurred by the introduction of pneumococcal vaccines as periodical inoculation leads to reduced efficacy of the approved vaccines and altered antimicrobial susceptibility.
Methods: We determined serotypes of 351 isolates collected at a commercial clinical laboratory in Hokkaido prefecture, Japan, from December 2018 to February 2019 by using the polymerase chain reaction procedure of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Antimicrobial susceptibility and resistance gene profiles were also examined.

Objectives: Otitis media (OM) has a high prevalence worldwide and the treatment is crucial because hearing loss in children can lead to growth disorders such as language development disorders. The aim of this study is to analyse the changes in bacterial strains and the trends of antibiotic susceptibility in otitis media with effusion (OME), chronic otitis media (COM) and cholesteatomatous otitis media (Chole OM).
Design: This retrospective study involved 2926 patients diagnosed with OME, COM, or Chole OM between January 2000 and December 2020.

Invasive pneumococcal disease remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. In Russia, 13- valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) was introduced into the childhood immunization programme nationwide in 2014. As part of the Global Pneumococcal Sequencing Project (GPS), we used genome data to characterize 179 pneumococcal isolates collected from Russia in 2011-2018 to investigate the circulating pneumococcal strains using a standardized genomic definition of pneumococcal lineages (global pneumococcal sequence clusters, GPSCs), prevalent serotypes and antimicrobial resistance profiles.
