Background: Poststroke depression (PSD) is a highly prevalent and serious mental health condition affecting a significant proportion of stroke survivors worldwide. While its exact causes remain under investigation, managing PSD presents a significant challenge.

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence and predictors of depression among Bangladeshi stroke victims.

Skeletal muscle dysfunction (SMD), one of the extrapulmonary complications in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), considerably influences patient prognosis. Mitochondria regulates their dynamic networks through a mitochondria quality control (MQC) mechanism, involving mitochondrial biogenesis, mitochondrial dynamics, and mitophagy. The MQC is crucial for mitochondrial homeostasis and health, and disruption of it can lead to mitochondrial damage, which is a key factor in the structural and functional impairment of skeletal muscle in COPD.

Background: APOE*4 is the strongest genetic risk for late-onset Alzheimer's disease (AD), but other genetic loci may counter its detrimental effect, providing therapeutic avenues. Expanding beyond non-Hispanic White subjects, we sought to additionally leverage genetic data from non-Hispanic and Hispanic subjects of admixed African ancestry to perform trans-ancestry APOE*4-stratified GWAS, anticipating that allele frequency differences across populations would boost power for gene discovery.

Method: Participants were ages 60+, of European (EU; ≥75%) or admixed African (AFR; ≥25%) ancestry, and diagnosed as cases or controls.

Background: Current evidence suggests that hippocampal subfields have partially different genetic architecture and may improve the sensitivity of the detection of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, we investigated whether genetic predisposition to AD contributes to the accelerated rate of hippocampal volume atrophy across sex and AD stages and how this contribution is specifically driven by functional variants located in the APOE gene.

Methods: The study comprised 1,051 participants from ADNI cohort (75.

National Centralized Repository for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (NCRAD), Indianapolis, IN, USA.

Background: The National Centralized Repository for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (NCRAD) is continuing to develop a bank of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) that are available by request to the Alzheimer's disease (AD) research community.

Methods: As part of the pipeline for quality control of received cell lines, DNA was extracted for all lines and was submitted for whole genome sequencing (WGS). Paired-end WGS data was generated using the Illumina NovaSeq 6000 and processed following GATK best practices using the Sentieon pipeline.
