Unlabelled: The objective of this study is to explicate changes in steps per day observed over the course of a pilot study concerned with promoting walking. A pre/post single group design was used to evaluate a 12-month group intervention with 6-month follow-up with a sample of twenty-one sedentary, hypertensive African American women 25-68 years of age. A 3-hour monthly meeting was paired with an at-home walking component. Results indicated that the total group experienced a slight increase (5%) in mean steps per day at the end of the 12-month intervention, while a subgroup experienced a 13% decrease. However, mean steps per day increased from baseline to 6-month follow-up for both groups. Mean steps per day increased from 3857 to 5582 (37%) for total group and from 4659 to 7038 (51%) for the subgroup.
Conclusions: A group intervention can have a positive impact on promoting walking among African American women; however, multi-phased interventions may be necessary to assist this population meet current physical activity recommendations.

Aims: Atrial fibrillation (AF) leads to impaired exercise capacity, and catheter ablation (CA) for AF improves exercise capacity. However, the precise changes in daily activities after CA for AF remain unclear. The authors aimed to evaluate the changes in daily activities following CA for AF using a wristwatch-type pulse wave monitor (PWM), which tracks steps and exercise time, estimates burnt daily calories, and records sleep duration, in addition to establishing the rhythm diagnosis of AF or non-AF.

Background: Few studies have explored the association between DNA methylation and physical activity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of objectively measured hours of sedentary behavior (SB) and moderate physical activity (MPA) with DNA methylation. We further aimed to explore the association between SB or MPA related CpG sites and cardiometabolic traits, gene expression, and genetic variation.

Background: Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are recognized for their therapeutic potential in immune modulation and tissue repair, especially in veterinary medicine. This study introduces an innovative sequential stimulation (IVES) technique, involving low-oxygen gas mixture preconditioning using in vitro fertilization gas (IVFG) and direct current electrical stimulation (ES20), to enhance the anti-inflammatory properties of sEVs from canine adipose-derived MSCs (cAD-MSCs). Initial steps involved isolation and comprehensive characterization of cAD-MSCs, including morphology, gene expression, and differentiation potentials, alongside validation of the electrical stimulation protocol.

Multimodal digital health assessments overcome the limitations of patient-reported outcomes by allowing for continuous and passive monitoring but remain underutilized in older adult lifestyle interventions for brain health. Therefore, we aim to (1) report ecological momentary assessment (EMA) and ActiGraph adherence among older adults during a lifestyle intervention; and (2) use dynamic data collected via EMA and ActiGraph to examine person-specific patterns of mindfulness, steps, and sleep throughout the intervention. We analyzed EMA and ActiGraph data from a pilot study of the 8-week My Healthy Brain program (N = 10) lifestyle group for older adults (60+) with subjective cognitive decline.

Introduction: Tertiary prevention through physical activity and psychosocial support can positively impact patient outcomes, such as physical function and quality of life (QoL). However, more research is required on the effectiveness of strategies designed to increase the uptake of tertiary prevention programmes among cancer patients. Here, we present the protocol for a single-centre, randomised controlled pilot trial testing the preliminary effectiveness of social prescription and virtual patient information in increasing tertiary prevention among cancer patients and support persons (SPs) (ESPRIT "ffectiveness of a ocial escription and virtual patient nformation in increasing ertiary prevention" pilot trial).
