Objective: To establish a quantitative analysis method for analyzing the nucleosides in Cordyceps sinensis with capillary electrophoresis, and compare the difference between natural and the cultured C. mycelia.
Method: Capillary zone electrophoresis method was employed to quantitate the adenosine, uridine, guanosine and inosine in C. sinensis, with 0.25 mg x L(-1) boric acid-sodium hydroxide buffer, pH 9.5. The working voltage was 20 kV, the temperature was 25 degrees C, and the detection wavelength was 260 nm.
Result: With the capillary zone electrophoresis method, the average recovery of the above 4 nucleosides was 98.9%, 95.1%, 97.8% and 98.8% respectively, with the RSD 0.4%, 1.7%, 1.3% and 5.0%. There was no adenosine in natural C. sinensis and no inosine in the cultured C. mycelia detected.
Conclusion: This method can be used to determine the adenosine, uridine, guanosine and inosine in C. sinensis. The nucleosides in C. sinensis produced from Qinghai province and cultured C. mycelia are obviously different.

Chagas disease (CD), a parasitic infection, may have ocular repercussions in its cardiologic form, since a history of heart disease of other etiologies already has been established as a risk factor for neuropathies and maculopathies. The aim of the present study was to investigate preclinical structural and vascular optic nerve head (ONH) and macular parameters in patients with chronic CD. Nineteen patients with CD and 19 healthy subjects were evaluated with optical coherence tomography, optical coherence tomography angiography, and Laguna ONhE® software.

Purpose: To assess the retinal and choroidal microvascular changes in patients with benign essential blepharospasm (BEB) and to investigate the factors that may be effective on microvascularity.
Methods: This study included patients with BEB and healthy controls. All participants underwent a comprehensive examination followed by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).

Aim: To compare the macular and optic nerve perfusion and vascular architecture using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in normal eyes of Egyptian (Caucasians) and South Asian (Asians) volunteers.
Methods: Cross-sectional analytical OCTA study performed on 90 eyes of South Asian (=45) and Egyptians (=45) were analyzed. All participants underwent best-corrected visual acuity test, slit lamp, and fundus examination.

Background: This study evaluates retinal oxygen saturation and vessel density within the macula and correlates these measures in controls and subjects with type 2 diabetes (DM) with (DMR) and without (DMnR) retinopathy. Changes in retinal oxygen saturation have not been evaluated regionally in diabetic patients.
Methods: Data from seventy subjects (28 controls, 26 DMnR, and 16 DMR were analyzed.
