Split hand/foot malformation (SHFM) is a genetically heterogeneous limb malformation that may be isolated or associated with other malformations. More than 50 recognizable entities with SHFM have been described and at least 5 mapped genetic loci have been implicated. Two brothers with intrauterine growth retardation, short stature, distinctive face, microphthalmia, genital anomalies, and SHFM are described. Molecular analyses of TP63, HOXA13, and HOXD13 genes were normal. We propose this pattern to be a newly recognized SHFM syndrome.

As the operative management of acute, chest wall, skeletal injury escalates throughout the world, it has become commonplace for patients with posttraumatic conditions to present with clinical reconstructive challenges as well. In addition, it is becoming clear that rib nonunions are not rare, likely more than 5% of rib fractures. No subspecialty is better equipped to address such painful conditions than orthopaedic surgery.

Janus materials, a novel class of materials with two faces of different chemical compositions and electronic polarities, offer significant potential for various applications with catalytic reactions, chemical sensing, and optical or electronic responses. A key aspect for such functionalities is face-dependent electronic bipolarity, which is usually limited by the chemical distinction of terminated surfaces and has not been exploited in the semiconducting regime. Here, it is showed that a Janus and Kagome van der Waals (vdW) material NbTeI has ferroelectric-like coherent stacking of the Janus layers and hosts strong electronic bipolar states in the semiconducting regime.

Considering factors such as crustal reserves, atomic mass, redox potential and energy density, sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) are regarded as the most promising alternative to lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Transition metal-based layered oxides, especially typical NaMnO, stand out among cathode materials due to their low cost and high energy density. However, NaMnO cathodes face several challenges, including Jahn-Teller distortion, manganese dissolution, structural collapse, irreversible phase transition and significant capacity loss.

Chin augmentation and jawline contouring have emerged as significant procedures in aesthetic medicine, addressing both structural and age-related changes in the lower face. This review explores anatomic-based diagnosis and filler injection techniques for these treatments. Ethnic variations in facial structure necessitate different approaches, with Western patients often seeking jawline definition, while Asian patients frequently require chin projection.

In this paper, explore the effectiveness of a new Wide Area Fuzzy Power System Stabilizer (WAFPSS), optimized using the Exponential Distribution Optimization (EDO) algorithm, and applied to an IEEE three-area, six-machine power system model. This research primarily focuses on assessing the stabilizer's capability to dampen inter-area oscillations, a critical challenge in power grid operations. Through extensive simulations, the study demonstrates how the WAFPSS enhances stability and reliability under a variety of operational conditions characterized by different communication delay patterns.
